I guess that depends on how YOU would define a skip dribble - I think they’re both good. Main difference is the footwork & how it affects the defender: the move in this video is a side shuffle/gallop movement, but the feet don’t cross. It should force you defender to shift his weight sideways to stay in front of you (if they don’t, then you should have a driving angle with your float dribble hand or a pull up & you won’t need to crossover). I’d use this against a standstill defender as a set up move The skip dribble is more of a hesitation to me. It’s a skip off the inside foot (if the ball is in the right hand, you skip off your left foot). It’s going to force your defender back on their heels, which sets them up for a drive or a pull up… but you can also play around with how you do it. You can skip forward & laterally & get them moving backwards/sideways - now they’re really off balance.
