Hi, thankyou for sharing the best information, you have cleared many doubts of me about drone . Please tell me about the jobs in the drone sector in india, I have not done a training course till now I am waiting for the jobs to come out , so please tell me what will be the right time to do it by considering it with jobs in government sector also
I think drones are going to be a private players thing only by looking at the way all government organisations giving jobs on contracts. Drones are used in agriculture, surveys etc. which government gets done using private contracts. You can do a course and get in contact with the industry/companies that are into the field of providing these services.
Hi, I have a DJI Air 3 drone, 750gm, micro category. After obtaining UIN can I fly it in green zones of Andaman Nicobar islands ? Can you please shed some light on this matter
Yes, if it is a green zone, then you can fly. But remember, there are many Forest Reserves in Andaman. So there might be local restrictions that you must be aware of.
heyyyy..!! please help me out of a confusion !! we are going to start our drone delivery startup company and our we have build our own drone that weight around 12kgs(max) and our drone will travel between the states of states.... so what will be the rules we have to follow and in how many time we get our permission for out flight as our route for drone is in green area pls help up
To fly a drone in India, it must be registered on Digital Sky website. Being a foreigner, you cannot create your ID on digital sky and therefore cannot register your drone. But many foreigners have been able to bring it to India and even fly without registration. You may try your luck too.
Great video🎉🎉, really informative. Can I carry my personal DJI mini 4 pro(249g) from China to India(I am based in China), provided the drone is for personal use? Do I need to get the UIN Before I leave China? Do I need to declare it?. Thanks
Thank you so much for your appreciation ☺️. If it is possible for you to get UIN then it is better to get it. Proving that it is for personal use and you are going to take it back is impossible and that leads to doubt. But many people have been successful in bringing the Drone to India. So you may try your luck too. There are around 80% chances that you will get through.
As per rules importing is not allowed. But many have successfully in bring the drone to India. So you may try your luck too. Also, having a UIN before reaching to India will be better.
All drones that fly in India need to have UIN, just like registration numbers of cars. Being a foreigner you cannot register your drone as creating an account on the Digital Sky platform requires an Indian Passport. So there is no legal way to fly drones in India for foreigners. Even then, many people have been successful in bringing and flying drones in India. You may try your luck too.
Legally, you cannot import drones in India. But if you are an Indian citizen, then you can register the drone and bring it in open box used type style. That will make the case more genuine.
I have a drone in Canada with me can I take this to India ?? Do airport authorities take any duty fees or take in custody?? If no, can I fly it my village with UIN?
As per rules, drones cannot be imported in India. So they won't take the duty fee but they will confiscate it. But sometimes they don't even check. As drones are available in India too, you can say that you bought the drone in India. Having a UIN would make the case more genuine.
Thank you so much. Since even Nano Drones need to be registered and foreigners cannot register their drones in India, foreigners cannot fly their drones in India. Despite this, many foreigners have been able to fly their drones. So you can try your luck too. There are high chances of success!!!
Indeed a very informative video. I need help to select appropriate drone with acceptable camera in good budget range. Purchase from Mumbai. Need your valuable recommendations.
Thank you so much for the appreciation 😊. I always suggest getting DJI drones as they are the best drones available. Also getting the latest DJI drone is recommended as it will keep you a little future proof. The drone you are going to buy today will be with you for the next 3-4 years at least, so I would ask you to push the budget if possible. Considering all this, I would suggest you to buy DJI Mini 4 Pro.
Let's say someone bought a drone in thailand and thinking of bringing it inside india the drone is undr 250g then what he have to do for that .... could you tell me that ?
Importing is not allowed as such. However, one can try to bring it in an open box used type style saying that they already owned it. Having a UIN would make the case more genuine. All the best and let me know if you become successful in bringing the drone.
I am planning to buy a mini 4 pro with battery plus combo, will it become a micro category drone with plus batteries? Also, can you suggest the sites from where I buy drone in India?
Yes, with Battery plus it will become a Micro Category drone. I think drones are not available on Amazon, Flipkart anymore, you can check them though. I purchased other from offline store in Delhi.
I have been to only one training institute, that was Droneverse in Gurgaon. But the best one depends on your location, cost of staying and travelling. You can find the entire list of Institutes on the Digital Sky website.
Yellow zone is basically everywhere above the height of 120m. And for flying at that height, you have to take permission from the Air Traffic Controller of that area. Honestly, I haven't approached ATC for that till now so cannot tell you any more than this. But if you do, please share your experience with us!
You can register it as soon as you buy as you may be asked about its UIN at the airport. As I don't have first hand experience about this so I won't be the right person to answer this, but instead of bringing a new packed box, bring it as if it is a used one. Also, let me know if you succeed. It would be great info for the community! Thanks.
Any drone that takes off in India needs to have a UIN i.e. has to be registered. But being from Bangladesh, you cannot register your drone as creating an ID on Digital Sky requires Indian Passport and Aadhaar. So legally you cannot fly drones in India.
Brooooo! I was currently looking at drones and was really confused about the laws n all, i googled import is banned in india and saw a website selling dji drones... I was in doubt that might it be a scam? So i youtubed about dji drone legal in india and i was searching for the video with the highest views! 😅 I fuckin hated that video! Not at all what i wanted to know 😂 then i played your video and broooooooooooo! That was THE EXACT THINGS i wanted to know!!! HOLY SHIT! You don't get a subscriber, you get a fan of your channel 😂 fist bump 🤜🤛
Importing Drones is not allowed. But many people have been able to successfully bring it in just like people bring iphones and stuff. Try to bring it in an open box used type style and get a UIN before reaching India. That would make the chances higher.
Importing is banned as such but you may try your luck. As many people have bought the drone to India from abroad, you may get through too. But it is recommended to get a UIN of your drone and bring it in an open box used type style.
Hi Gaurav, just wanted to inquire: 1. Is there any training required for flying drones weighing under 250 gm? 2. Any complications carrying it internationally?
Officially, no training is required. Rules do not restrict carrying a drone outside India. However, check the drone rules of the destination country about any restriction there.
Official fees is Rs. 1000. But you have to get training from a RPTO, cost of which varies. It is around 35k. Just wait for a week or two, I am coming up a full video about a Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO). You may consider subscribing to my channel for that 😃
Hello Sir, your video was simple, i love to travel, would shoot for recreational purpous, and i am a biginner in drone world, what type of drone should i buy, as a biginner. Don't want to buy expensive right now. Please Help
To fly a drone in India, your drone should be registered on the Digital Sky platform. Being a foreigner, you cannot do that. So legally you cannot fly drones in India. But many people have been successful in bringing and flying drones in India. So you may try your luck too.
@@VigneshRaman-h9f Drone with total weight > 250 gm becomes a Micro category drone. Now requirement of licence depends on the objective of your flying. If you are flying for commercial purposes then you have to get a licence otherwise you don't need to have a licence.
Hi gaurav.. I wanted to ask.. If i have a nano Drone (Dji Mini 4 pro), and want to fly in the red 2 zone with permission, then how can that be done ? Also in future, if i want to use my drone for commercial purpose, will i need a Remote Pilot License and how should i apply for it ? Thanks in Advance..
The rule says that you have to take permission from the Central Government to fly drones in the Red Zone. Nothing more is specified. Nano drones can be used for commercial purposes even without licence. For Micro category drones used for commercial purposes, you need a remote pilot licence. I have a separate video on getting remote pilot licence. You can refer to that. 👍🏻
Thank you.. In the future, if you know how to apply for permission, then let me know.. Also i have seen many people fly their drones in Mumbai.. So i was keen to know how to fly my drone in Mumbai without getting into any trouble.. I will check out the Remote pilot license video.. Thanks 😊
I recently got a Mini 4 pro and have 2 queries regarding registration 1. While finding manufacturer/model I see multiple mini 4 pro in the list. Which one should I select? 2. After paying the registration amount of 100 rupees for UIN, how much time does it approximately take for the approval to come?
Thanks for the video. How do you fly in India after the registration? I see that there is a flight plan request but do you have to always do that on the DGCA website.
@@logontogaurav thanks for replying so quickly. How do you determine green zone. In large cities like Mumbai and Delhi the whole city shows red. Do you look at the DGCA website or drone assist app etc.
@@kstotlani Happy to help ☺️! Yes we have to check the DGCA map on Digital Sky website, that is the authentic source. And yes, you are right again that Metro Cities are almost completely in Red Zone and that makes sense too considering Airport, Military Areas, Oil Installations, Power Plants, Govt Offices etc in these cities. And that is really a pain in the a** for residents of such cities to go out quite far to find a green zone. You may find a little patch of green zone here and there in such cities to test fly your drone, but for a proper flight, legally you have to venture out far.
Hello Sir, I am a wedding photographer and I fly my dji air 3 in our city so local people came to me and asked for licence and permissions for the drone. What I do further? plz suggest
Just check if you are flying in a Green Zone and not over someone's private property. If your wedding photography is a business, you need to have a licence otherwise you don't. Needless to say, you must a UIN. So tell them you are doing everything legal.
UIN is a must for every drone. As far as the licence is concerned, it is required only if you are flying a drone for commercial purposes. Otherwise it is not required.
Just came from dubai to mumbai in air india carrying a mini 3 pro in check in luggage with rc and batteries in handbag and nobody even cared.. It's totally safe if you follow the protocols of batteries 🎉
Hello Gaurav!! I'm traveling to Bali on 11th Feb, I have a layover in Singapore and im planning to buy a DJI mini3 in Singapore duty free. I'll use this Drone in Bali and have to bring it back to Hyderabad on 19Feb. Please suggest sir. I have to use drone in Bali, if the above planning pf mine isn't correct. Could you suggest me an alternative please.
So as you know, importing is not allowed, you cannot do this legally. But many people have been successful in bringing it to India. Bring it in an open box/used type style. Getting a UIN would make it more genuine. All the best and happy journey! Do let me know how much it cost in Singapore.
@@logontogaurav thank you so much for taking time to give me a reply. I'm a complete novice in this topic. The only reason I wanted to buy a Drone is because we want a few outstanding and memorable pics at Bali as we are celebrating our 5th anniversary on Feb 14. I will probably not use this drone again in India. Could you suggest some alternatives for me please. I don't want to do anything which is not legal. I'm going with my spouse and a 3 year old kid, So I don't want to take any changes Sir.
@@eashwarchandtata2317 If you can register it before reaching back to India and bring it in a open box style, there are 80% chances that you'll be able to bring it to India despite it being illegal as you can say that you bought it in India and just bringing it back. Drones these days are totally worth it. If you want to know how to register, you can check out my separate video about it. Another alternative could be is to hire a drone in Bali and use it. And honestly I don't know how convenient it would be.
hi Logon, great video. im a canadian, wanting to bringing DJI mini 4 pro 249g into india. i know as a foreigner you said cant bring it in, and to try getting a UIN number. but only indians can get the UIN number. i will be between countries and will have drone with me. i know you said many are successful in bringing it into the country. i wont use in india, but need to bring it in. what do you suggest? pack in check in and hope there are no issues? maybe find an indian who can register it for me? any suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you so much for the appreciation. You have pointed out all the things correctly. Even if it is not allowed to fly without UIN, many people have been successful so you might be as well. Keeping it in check-in baggage seems okay but getting it registered by an India seems to be a hassleful activity and wouldn't be a legitimate thing. So it can be avoided.
@@logontogaurav flying into delhi airport. what are my chances there? and worse come to worse, will they hold my drone for me there until i leave india? have you heard if they do this?
@@johnlucero8350 Honestly, I don't know about what will happen if they decide to not let your drone to be carried with you to India. Will they just confiscate or keep it for you. You should be able to get through but yes, the worst is you will never get your drone back. You can enquire or request them to hold it for you, if they have such an option.
Bro Dji drones are banned u said so how will we register with out a bill no 2 when i tryd to register air2s site was not working .stuck at enter password page 3 can i travel abroad and come back with the drone if it has registration no
1. DJI drones are being sold in open even though their import is banned. How? There is no option of bill while registering. So don't worry, you can register without a bill. 2. Try after sometime or in another browser. The site is very buggy. Just keep on trying. 3. That depends on your destination country. India has no problem in it. Laws of the destination country matters.

I want to know that if I go to India and if I want to take it along, will there be any duty that I will have to pay at the airport and if I will have to get it registered. It's a less that 249 gram drone. Thanks
Thanks, good to know that my video helped. You can try to bring the drone in an open box/used type style. Get it registered as it is not mentioned that Nano drones are exempted from registration. So having a UIN is better.

Please reply if possible as it may help me alot
Firstly, get a UIN for your drone by registering on the Digital Sky platform. You can try to bring it as if it is not a new drone. Honestly, I have no experience in this but you can try that. But getting a UIN will be really helpful. Btw, how much does the drone cost in Vietnam?
Licence is required only when you are flying it for commercial purposes. Otherwise you don't need a licence. That is what the rules say. Don't know from where Google got that information.
Hi I bought a dji mini 4 pro in usa coming to india in 5 days. The drone is a catgorised as a nano drone if used with normal battery it is 249 grams but the battery i have is the extended plus battery 45 mints which bump the weight to 305 grams at take off instead of using the regular ones. I am scared to bring it thinking they will confiscate it in customs because its heavier i heard if i put drone in chekin baggage with batteries removed and put in hand carry with remote in carryon i wont have issue . Is this correct ?. Also since this is 305 grams with the extended battery would i have to get the the remote pilot license or is it not applicable because yhe drone itself is categorised as a nano drone. Please help . I am really confused all websites online are not providing coear information . I am really frustrated dont want to lose my drone at airport and also not be able to fly in india after all these hassle. Please give your opinion and any links that help Thankyou
The Drone categories, Nano/Micro etc...depends on the overall payload (incl battery/camera etc). So if with a battery it becomes greater than 250 gm, it comes in the Micro category drone. You don't require a Remote Pilot License for Micro drones only if you are flying for non commercial purposes. Batteries to be carried in hand baggage and drone to be carried in Check-in baggage. Please check with your airline to exactly know about these rules. Importing drones is not allowed in India. But you can try to bring it to India as a used/personal drone. If you are Indian, you can get a UIN as that would make it more genuine ( Foreigners cannot register their drones and hence cannot get a UIN and hence cannot fly drones in India). As per rules, an unregistered drone cannot fly in India. But many foreigners have been able to bring and fly without UIN.
Also, if you modify the weight of the drone by mounting say 160 gm GoPro, you are basically changing the category of the drone and technically, you cannot fly that drone as it has been registered in the other category.
Importing drones is not allowed in India. However many people have been successful in bringing it to India so you can try your luck too. Just bring it in an open box used type style. Getting a UIN would be better. Registering Nono Drones is required. Please note that only Indians can create an ID and register drones on the Digital Sky platform.

@@timelessbucks Happy to help 😊. Getting a UIN for a Nano drone is a must. And it is simple too, so don't take the risk of not having a UIN. Drones to be kept in check in luggage and batteries to be kept in Hand baggage. At the airport they only ask for UIN, if they ask anything at all. This generally happens at smaller airports as they have ample time to do this. At bigger airports, they don't bother. I didn't understand the part "caught getting a drone". Do you mean while buying, you got caught? Or caught at airport without UIN? If it is the latter, you can just request or even try to register right there at the airport.

I went thru hell of a frustration getting mine done and I had to do it as a manufacturer /importer as an individual. Is that right?
Insurance is required as per rules. However, I don't believe many people take it. There is this company "TropoGo" which comes as a first link when we search Drone Insurance on Google. You can explore that. I'll try to make a video on registering a drone on the Digital Sky platform. You have to register as an individual.
@@logontogaurav what shall be the cost of insurance?? i heard that upto 250g drone and private hobby use does not demand mandatory insurance. i am also confused

Question As a hobbyist if I assemble my own drone in 250-2000gm category, do I have to get UIN for the drone? and can I sell those parts like flight controller, motor etc as a reseller?
So if you assemble a drone, not only you need to get a UIN, but you need to get a type certificate too. A Type certificate is meant for basically the fitness of your drone. That is, if it is fit to fly. So as you can see, the drones that these big companies and start-ups make, they all need to certify their drones. As far as reselling the parts is concerned, as per rules, any transfer of registered drone/ part is to be informed to DGCA. This is all as per rules.
Just wait for a week. I am making a full detailed video on it by going to a training organisation myself. You can turn ON the notifications so you don't miss it 😃
Not as per rules, but you can try to bring it in an open box used type style. And having a UIN would make the case more genuine. Just like people bring iphones sometimes.
very informative. But stii it is confusing as these gadgets are new for us. One relative of mine has given me Hover X1 selfy drone camera as a gift. Thank you so much. I understand the reason for your confusion. As there are multiple sources of information, confusion is inevitable. How authentic that "Somebody" is you have to evaluate. Do they mean it is "okish" if you don't have registration? In the video I have tried to tell the rules, which ones are stricter which are lean are different things. To get a UIN, you have to register on the Digital Sky platform. And unfortunately, it requires Indian IDs like Aadhaar Card and Passport. So a foreigner cannot register and hence cannot obtain a UIN. However many people/foreigners have been able to bring it to India. So you may try your luck too. What about bringing a DJI mini 3 from Canada through one of our relative, Do they need any type of document? and how should they carry it.... Handbag or Luggage?
Importing is not allowed. So doing that would be illegal. But many people have been successful in bringing it from foreign. Batteries are to be kept in hand baggage and drone to kept in check in luggage. Please ask your airline for exact configuration.
Hi buddy - Video was very much informative 👏🏻 1 quick question I have mini 3 drone registered with dgci, now I am travelling to Kashmir (Srinagar etc) can you tell me how to get permission to fly drone their

hi gaurav! i am planning to buy a drone from abroad and bringing it back to india for personal use. Will there be any issue in customs if I register in the digital sky website to get a UIN while still being abroad. Also do i need a GST receipt to register a drone? drone in question is a dji air 3.
GST bill is not required for registration. As such, importing is not allowed and what you will be doing is basically that. But practically, many people have been able to bring a drone from abroad. So you may try too. Having a UIN may add to your argument that you bought it in India, it is registered and all. Try to bring it in an open box used type style. And you can even say that you owned it in India. These are not guaranteed measures but they may help. All the best!

And if you don't consider it as a profession, you should 😃. This is all legally speaking. PS :- Nano Category drones do not require RPC.
