Thanks for sharing. I hope you enjoy Strong Poison. That's the first of the Harriet Vane books, and you found a lovely copy.

Oh, I loved this episode! How fun to go to a Library Book Sale with your son! You are blessed! I would start with Garland For Girls by L.M. Alcott. She is one of, if not my favorite author since being a child. I have SOOO many books about her and written by her. I grew up in Lexington Massachusetts which is one town away from Concord where her home that she wrote Little Women in,is. I have been in it SOOO many times, I think I could give the tours. She had a hard life mostly because her father was so lazy😑 In her later yrs. she moved to Boston and took her father w/ her. They died one day apart, him first. I wish I could find as many used bks. as you do! My library and some others around here don't have the yearly book sale anymore. They have a room where they sell the discarded books year round. Great prices of course, but I miss the "thrill of the hunt". 😁 Thank you Mitzi! Love Gina Stanyer's channel and sometimes watch the other one ( with an i"). Presently rereading Jane Eyre, been a long, long time!😊

So many beautiful books! I found some of those vintage Harlequin paperbacks at my local thrift store and had to buy them just because the covers were so fun 💜🩵💜

You casually say, "This book was published in 1933, and this one in 1918." Me: 100 years ago!!! She is holding books that are 100 years old!!! 🤯 I mean, I teach Japanese Classical Literature, so I read daily books that have been in this world for more than a millennium, but they are in modern editions. You have in your hands a treasure!!! 😍❤

So here's a thing . . . I saw the picture of Kathleen Norris - whom I had never heard of - at the bottom of the post and thought, "That's strange!" because I just looked that woman up to see where she was coming from theologically. Then I listened to your video and saw the books you picked up and thought, "That can't be the same woman writing this books in the early 20th century and still writing essays and poetry now!" Turns out the Kathleen Norris in the picture is not the one who wrote your books! And I didn't just come across someone that you came across! Just the name. 🤣

Pop Goes the Murder is the second in the series - the first is Kernel of Truth. Strong Poison is the first of the Harriet Vane books and I love Harriet. Gaudy Night (which I believe is number 3) is my favorite about her. You have a great haul - enjoy!

I know what you mean about enjoying time with your grown sons. It doesn't happen often, and I cherish it also. My boys are 28 and 25.

Estherjane here. Oh my I LOVE The Number One Ladies Detective Agency is one of my favorites! I have read them all and the 25th one comes out October 15 and can’t wait! The main character always drinks Red Bush rooibos tea so I always drink this tea when reading these books. These books always calm me😊❤

I’m with you! I started drinking Redbush tea altogether instead of coffee and everything when I first began to read about her - she’s such a great sales person for it. These are such enjoyable and endearing books and characters.❤❤

@@janetsmith8566 that’s cool. At first I had a hard time finding near where I lived but got it from a health food store. Botswana, Botswana, Botswana. Afrika, Afrika, Afrika 🙂

I haven't read them, but Miranda Mills said that you have to read Dorothy L. Sayers's Peter Wimsey books in order because of the romantic plot. Love to see your excitement about books!!! ❤

What a great haul, MItzi. I have read the first couple of the Ladies Detective Agency. Very good! I have collected most of the series. There was a movie adaption of the first book and I watched it a long time ago. But this morning I checked and I couldn't find it. I'm going to check my library. Have a blessed week;

I’m so glad to see you got the first Alexander McCall Smith book! I remember ages ago in a video you requested stories that were uplifting because you were feeling down. This was before I personally discovered PG Wodehouse who is now my go-to, absolutely. so enjoy that new one of his that you’ve got there. ❤ But before that I discovered Alexander McCall Smith and those books just put a smile on my face! I think they are really positive and so interesting: where they’re set and the little problems that come up and the relationships and the characters…. I do think you will enjoy them. You’ve got a lot of wonderful pleasures ahead of you with that pile!and… This is such a great month for Sherlock Holmes - I absolutely love going to those in September and October. However the ones you have look a bit dodgy… So let us know what you think as you peruse them! With certain authors, I’m now very much a purist but you never know - sometimes there’s a little gem out there in the rubbish heap! LOL. Enjoy!!!

I just love the Jeeves book cover, too cute! I have quite a few Phyllis Whitney books but I haven't read any of them yet😅. I would love to own a Dorothy Eden book. Kathleen Norris books are so hard to find, even rarer with dust jackets. Great haul Mitzi 👍📚🍁

I'm so glad you got this video done and scheduled before the storm when you had electricity!! It's so great to see you on here today. How awesome that you found a better copy of the Elizabeth Lawrence book! I haven't read either of those Janette Oke books, but the first one is part of the Love Comes Softly spinoff series and the other one is from the Women of the West collection. Someone else already commented about it and that is my understanding too. Each book is a stand alone, but part of the collection. I haven't read Kathleen Norris yet, but I have some on my radar. Those covers are beautiful. I know you will love The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency. I'm up to book 18 in that series.

Have you sampled any of his other series yet? I’ve got some unread ones from his Scotland series and one of his other ones. They look great, but I wondered if anyone had some comments on them.

I believe that Janette Oke book is from a "series" of standalones. There were 8-10 of them, I think, and they were kind of a series, but not interconnected in any way, if that makes sense. She was the only Christian author I knew of for awhile in high school. I read almost everything of hers. 😂
