I remember some students (including me) getting proud of themselves for memorizing Rizal's full name hahaha. Actually, "Rizal" is not his real surname, it's "Mercado". He had to change his surname to avoid troubles regarding his brother Paciano who worked under one of the executed Filipino friars (a long story). The "y Alonso Realonda" is from his mother like how it goes for Latino names.

Notification gang ✌🏼I actually memorized Jose Rizal’s full name because of this rap. Too long! 😂 And yes, back then, they included both the mother and the father’s last name. I think it’s always the men’s last name first? Fun fact: Mercano is his last name, not Rizal. Long story short, Jose's kuya Paciano had to change Jose's last name to Rizal because Paciano was a student and also worked for one of the executed GomBurZa priests/martyrs. Anyone associated with the three priests put a stain on their reputation. That's why Paciano changed Jose's last name and was known as "Rizal" for most of his life to avoid the burden that his kuya faced. And the women that helped sew the flag is Marcella, along with her daughter and Jose Rizal’s niece in Hong Kong. It’s hard to pick a favourite hero. Maybe Lapu Lapu and Gabriela Silang (the first Henerala who fought the Spanish). They’re badass Visayan and Ilocana like me 😅

Spanish naming convention in the Philippines used to be like this: (Patron Saints name, Ancestor's name, First name, Father's complete surname, (y) Mother's complete surname) In Bicol, some old folks still bear the 3 names tradition. ---------> Jose Alfonso Margarito delos Santos Luistro y Fernandez Villanueva or simply "Jose Alfonso Margarito delos Santos".

😅 I just remembered those times when we need to memorize Dr. Jose P. Rizal's full name in Spanish, plus remember the names of his parents and siblings, with his siblings' names in order of their birth from the eldest to the youngest. It is a thing or a must to study and learn first about Dr. Jose P. Rizal's life from birth, to childhood, to adolescence, to adulthood, to death, and even what happened after his death, including about his parents, siblings, influences, influencers, schools he attended, skills, talents, aptitudes, interests, inclinations, values, attitudes, personality, character, ideals, beliefs, aspirations, careers, professions, love interests, other works and his other writings, before reading and learning about Noli Me Tángere and/or El filibusterismo.

I think they put the word machete to rhyme with the lyrics, 😊 .. we don't usually use the word machete, rather we use gulok, itak, or kampilan to describe the bladed weapon our ancestors used.. 😊 nice reaction 😊👍👍

By the way, Jose Rizal does not start the spanish revolution, he likes Spain, even the Governor Heneral during Rizal's time doesnt want Rizal to be executed. But the Prayle (Spanish Priest)is governing the Philippines and prevent the Filipinos to be Educated and treat them as INDIOS. Rizal doesnt like system of priest governing the Philippines.
