Whether it was the countless times they met up in studios just to hang out, etc. Lenny Kravitz even recently spoke about one of those times. I've been privileged to witness it with my own eyes some of my friends'parents were a bit much but it was because of their own life experiences and upbringing. To be honest with you it has nothing to do with being a Jehovah Witness they could have been Catholic, Baptist, or Non-denominational etc. and Joseph still would have been controlling and abusive. It's always going to be something when you have imperfect human beings who come from different backgrounds and walks of life. My best friend's mom had grown up in an abusive household where her grandmother had mental health issues and was dating someone who was also abusive it made my friend's mom very paranoid and suspicious of everyone. She tried to keep her kids to herself and took my mom to help her let my friend do some things by ourselves like go skating, the mall, or going to the movies by ourselves at 16/17 years old and of course it drove my best friend crazy.
