It's crazy how I discovered this song at the exact right time, I truly think it's a message from the universe at this point because I bet the opportunities were really low. This song really makes me think of my grandmother, who left us in 2020. She was an excellent self-taught piano player and would play songs like this all of the time. I'm sure he's someone i do truly love. We've had our own issues growing up, and some things haven't quite gotten better, but the support he's shown for me, it gives me a reason to wake up in the morning. He is my first love; and i really hope, one day, he'll be my only and my last. We plan to one day, move to a small town in his home country, near the waters. He would make sure his hands would be covered in scratches and dirt, so my hands could be soft. I can promise, I'll always have warms hands, by only his hands. It never does inconvenience us, to have each other around. Our studies, we help each other on. Our native languages, we'd teach each other. I hope to learn how to tell him i love him in his native tongue. And i await the day, he would do the same for me. Though, we're young, I'm so glad i spend my youth with him around. This is my comfort song, never I have related to a love-song before. I met him this year on January, a month before I'm turning 23. And he's the very first guy I have a romantic relationship with. It feels cute and cheesy how I could relate to almost of every lyrics of this song. And let alone how we met was strangely felt like the universe intentionally did this to me. He's a senior of my friend, I replied to her story jokingly commenting about him and she joked back like, "yeah, wanna get to know him?" and long story short it reached him. We then met and on our first meet, it felt like I was meeting a close friend rather than a date. It was full of laughs and joys. We both are a close book but funny how that day we could talk about sensitive topics, like family background & issues (WHICH surprisingly, same) and stuffs. On some next meets, he told me the reason why he still chased after me was because he felt like he has known me for a long time even ever since our first meet. And I was surprised to know his point of view because, on that day after, I was scared for weeks thinking of how much familiarity I felt on him. Not trying to be cringe but, it really does feel like we somehow aligned / fated, through all the similar experiences and familiarity we had. How I used to hate and be scared of guys because of what I experienced in my family by men (and what he experienced too lol) and saw my friends were hurt by guys, the first time he said I'm pretty, spent my first valentine purchasing couple-discount food with him, the thoughts of he might be the only one I will ever love and miss, the damned situationship produced fear like I should have run. Every lyrics of it feels very personal to me. I'm planning to get him listen to this someday, only if we're officially dating, to let him know he's the first guy. Curious to know how he will react.

I think what I especially love about this one in particular is it really feels like a happy ending. Laufey's written a lot of songs about someone wishing to be loved. Listening to those ones, and listening to this, makes me picture a story of a character who's been struggling for so long finally having someone who truly cares for them. Its such a sweet song, but I feel like the other songs of heartbreak/unrequited love really make it all the more impactful.
