Never heard of her before her voice is stunning, didn't know she was so young aswell, to be such a fan and speak so elequently and passionately about these Jazz artists is great to hear I like the amount of young artists getting into Jazz nowdays it leaves me with a good feeling for the future of Jazz it's in safe hands 😊
@@madhavraghu OK what are you guys the fucking spelling police jesus, I wrote on my touch screen phone quickly so it might not of come out perfectly who cares
She is literally picking everyone one of my favorite albums. Each time she pulls one out, I feel like I'm in a weird twighlight zone episode :) Great taste!
Ha! Yeah, ditto. Love her voice and artistry, and witnessing her musical journey... 💜 Laufey - Japanese Denim ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oVWmtCq6H2c.html
I was always captivated by Laufey's voice and I could never put my finger on how to describe it. But when she mentioned that others have said she sings like a cellist, I immediately had my 'aha!' moment because yeah, it's true. I believe that's why I adore a lot of her songs, esp Fragile. She sings like a cellist and I love listening to the cello.
Most of her albums that she picked are artists that my parents love and respect. They are jazz musicians and love the artists she picked. I've only known about Laufey a couple days ago after seeing this video and now I am obsessed. I love her Jazz style. It's like Jazz meets Indie. I can definitely tell she was influenced by Norah Jones and it makes sense why she picked that album. I also showed this to my former music theory professor because she also mentioned Bill Evans and Shostakovich. He loves Bill Evans. If you have not listened to her new album, you must! Her songs and arrangements are absolutely gorgeous
Laufey and her sister are such darling and very talented young people. I love all of Laufey's choices, esp. Chet and Pops. But, all these artists sign and play with such incredible feeling, phrasing, dynamics, a beautiful amount of texture.
She's figured out a way. She seems like a nice young woman and a good musician - but we'll see if she ever gets beyond the slavish imitation stage of her career.
by being a swiftie, im so surprised that laufey is a fan of taylor too! im a fan of both of them and i didnt really expect laufey being a swiftie. I LOVE THEM BOTH UGHHHHH
one of the great things about whats in my bag is discovering new artists i have never heard of laufey but they come across as i nice person and great performer the description of the bill evans live album with the glass and cutlery noises in the background was awesome
It’s so cool seeing her talk about Norah Jones and now she’s been able to make music with her! You can tell how much her music and storytelling means to her.
very cool girl indeed, love most of all her choices, she seems like a romantic in her choices,i was not familiar with her at all but now im going to check her out, talent and sweetness seem to have surrounded her, wish her much good fortune👍🌻💙🍁🍂
I love that she pulled out Billie Holiday first. The first Laufey song I ever heard immediately reminded me of Billie the way she slid so easily from note to note.
She is one of my favourite artists of all time a long with lamp and mitksi shes the reason i got into jazz im glad shes getting the attention she deserves
I love your music, your voice is absolutely fantastic and super cosy. I haven't liked jazz before, but now i begin to feel this type of music, slow and cosy ones
What a well-spoken, thoughtful woman with a curious mind and wonderfully diverse taste! A lot of respect... and I'm now going to check out her music. (and on a personal note: If you ever need an album cover, I'd love to do some artwork for you!) Cheers!
I really never listen to the radio today , i listen more to the alternative stuff, electronica and just spotify.I have never heard about Laufey but i have seen her acting on the tv and i knew she is a celeb here in Iceland. I am Icelandic and somehow i have missed her existence.
I'm surprised that as a cello player she doesn't mention Scott LaFaro's bass work on Bill Evan's "Village Vanguard Sessions". For me his bass playing raised these recordings above most of Evan's other works.
You are a great artist, you inspired me to learn 'I wish you love'. I am a tin pan alley ukulele artist and jazz singer 63 years old. I love your original music, but I would love to see you do a cover album of jazzy Chet Baker type songs. Please don't lose your teeth like Chet! You have such a sweet smile. when are you coming to Japan (where I live).
Omggg I love these music picks as a person who listens to what’s trendy or popular or well known (John Mayer, Polyphia, One Republic, Francisco Tarrega, Hall and Oates, Eminem, Kendrick, Alan Walker, Porter Robinson, Illenium, stuff like that) so it’s awesome to see more jazz and stuff that I usually never listen to. I only know Laufey from music theory break downs but now I actually have to listen to her!
I so like Laufey because her music choices are EXACTLY the same as I have. Same artists, same albums, same songs! (Only except TS). She was brought up by musical parents, her dad playing a lot of jazz. But my jazz discovery was thanks to RU-vid recommendations during its infancy some 10 years ago.
I always get excited when I see people pick classical titles on this channel. There are some wonderful pressings out there (and some that are worth thousands), but there are a lot of cheap, low-quality pressings, too. You really need to know your stuff when getting into classical vinyl.
