Launch of the USAID Acquisition and Assistance Strategy 

Deputy Administrator Adams-Allen launched Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) Strategy on March 15, 2023.
In November 2021, Administrator Power outlined her New Vision for Global Development. As we think about how we operationalize this vision, there is no place where it is more important than within our acquisition and assistance (A&A) efforts. From our staffing, to our policies and practices, and how we partner - A&A is critical to realizing USAID’s vision of inclusive development. While we have great power in convening stakeholders, developing U.S. foreign policy, and influencing host governments, the majority of our work is accomplished through designing, managing, and evaluating the activities we fund.
The vision and objectives outlined in the Agency’s A&A strategy will help take USAID and the global development community into the future. The strategy rightly focuses on the A&A workforce and outlines how we will lower barriers for organizations and institutions of all types to join our mission - including small businesses, the private sector, faith-based and community groups, and particularly local partners. We intend to automate where possible, streamline our interactions with partners, and shift attention towards localization. We are also committing to fully utilizing the expertise of our A&A staff throughout our business processes, tapping into their unique knowledge.
