On a day marked by ambition and community spirit, Tiajungla, Nati, and Nasen-three private school teachers-celebrated the grand opening of Dressing Dreams, Tuensang's first-ever bridal wear boutique. "If you have a will and determination, anything is possible,” Tiajungla said, embodying the perseverance that brought this vision to life.
The boutique represents a significant milestone for the town. After nearly three years of scrimping and saving, the trio has transformed their dream into reality. Their journey involved various side hustles, including selling second-hand clothes and shoes, and even cow dung for manure, showcasing their dedication and resourcefulness.
“Our goal was to offer high-quality bridal gowns at reasonable prices,” said the founders. They recognized a gap in the market where local brides had to travel long distances to cities like Dimapur or Kohima for their dream dresses, often incurring high travel and accommodation costs. By establishing Dressing Dreams in Tuensang, they aim to make the process simpler and more affordable.
Tiajungla emphasized the importance of understanding local needs. “As locals, we can better address the specific needs of our community. We know that finding the perfect dress can be challenging, especially with fitting issues and communication barriers when shopping away from home. Our boutique aims to bridge that gap,” she explained.
The founders have balanced their new business with their teaching careers, ensuring that boutique operations occur only after school hours. Supported by their families and a strong sense of faith, their hard work has been rewarded. “We found favour in the sight of our God. Without His blessing, we could never have done this,” Tiajungla reflected, quoting Psalm 90:17.
The boutique offers a range of bridal dresses, from ₹12,000 to ₹43,000, and has invested considerable time in researching and building relationships with suppliers to ensure high quality. Nati pointed out, “People from our area often spend over ₹50,000 on travel and stay just to buy a ₹25,000 dress in Dimapur or Kohima. We provide the same quality right here, sourced both locally and internationally.”
Dressing Dreams also provides tailoring services for alterations and plans to extend their delivery options to nearby districts such as Noklak, Shamator, Longleng, and Mon. The boutique includes accessories like veils, jewellery sets, and hair clips, with plans to offer formal and party dresses during the off-season.
The boutique’s launch event was highlighted by a program led by Ayen Mongba, Associate Pastor Youth of Tuensang Sang Baptist Lashong, with dedication and prayer led by Achungla, Associate Pastor Women of Tuensang Town Baptist Lashong, and a closing prayer by Seotingla.
