Small correction about the Launchpad Pro MK3 naming scheme. It seems to me that they released a tiny revision of the Launchpad Pro sometime with a different colored logo at the top, which they called the mk2. So yes it is the 2nd hardware revision of the Launchpad Pro, but technically is the 3rd total revision.
I've surprisingly never heard of this revision, it was probably such a small incremental update that a minor physical change in appearance shouldn't be classed as a whole new model
@@Kaskobi Yeah it's really honestly kinda stupid. They did a similar thing with the Launch Control XL, so I'm expecting to see a "LAUNCHCONTROL MK3" announcement soon.
I started looking at the new Launchpads because my OG Pro is huge and heavy... I’m going to college overseas and wanted something that was at least a bit less massive (all the new ones are smaller & lighter). Now I’m faced with a train wreck of pros and cons-and major buying anxiety. - If I get a Pro MK3, I’ll want it to replace my current one due to the high price. It’s clearly a huge step up in terms of music production capabilities, but for lightshows and covers less so, if not a step back in some ways. The problem is-I do lots of both. - Getting an X leaves a tough choice of picking one over the other due to different pros/cons, since it would be mostly redundant keeping both permanently - Mini MK3 is super portable, but lacks most of the important music production features I would appreciate having in my only piece of hardware at school and feels a bit cramped depending on what I’m doing - On top of all that, as Kaskobi mentioned in the video (and what mat1jaczyyy added in the comments), there are some advantages to just sticking with my current Launchpad Pro. Biggest concern is how much space it will take up and the weight it will add to my bag/backpack. If anyone is still looking in these comments and has recommendations, I’m open to suggestions.
@@SnowChild__ I did get it (Pro MK3), and it’s been great. I have made music with it and completed Launchpad covers with it as well. I really appreciate how thin and light it is and the USB-C port was a huge help to me in terms of packing and cross-cable-compatibility.
It's so sad to can't use more faster lights effect on the new pro, I just love to make lights more sync with the song. :/ Novation, I hope you can fix this.
I wont buy from Novation ever again. I bought the MK2 and it had the awful type B port and they never wanted to replace it even tho it kept freezing and shutting off
@@Kaskobi honestly It’s not bad, but not the best. We may have to see what novation does when it comes to those issues you listed, if they’ll do anything…
Glad they updated the usb port. My old launchpad mk2 from 9 years ago is basically unusable because the cable won't consistently connect. I'm a little worried about getting another one, but I'm hoping USB-C will be more durable. Little bit worried about the fact that it's so flexible, but I wouldn't be taking it anywhere. I do want something that'll last me years, though.
Hey Kaskobi I got a question for you! I'm trying to play project files from like around 3 years ago, but I need the midi ext and the standard files for the project to load. Therefore I got the question if you could upload the files once or something. Thanks for taking the time to respond!! Greatings
TBH, once every single light show tut hit more than 2 years old, they became mostly useless, due to Ableton changes. Pretty much why I own 3 LP's and a LK61 but haven't looked into a Legacy project since Bonfire, lmao. Same reason I barely come to this channel anymore: Like yeah, it's neat... But unless I can learn how to do it myself, I don't really give a crap, ya know? :/
@@lkgv123 I bought it 4 months ago and it's fantastic. I had issues with light uniformity with the X so I returned it and got the pro it has the same problem but the sensitivity is much better.
hey kaskobi, could you possibly do a full setup walkthrough video on how we can play projects such as pigstep on the new mk3? (me and a few friends bought this a while ago but can't seem to get it to work despite reading the user guide and other tutorials on youtube) in short, we don't know how to receive feedback from custom mode nor how to use components :/
Hi there great video of the Novation Launchpads. I want to get one preferably to connect my 2013 macbook pro 15" retina that has ports for usb only and thunderbolt. I would like to get the Novation launchpad mini MKIII but i see on the back of the unit it has usb-C type connection, isn't that right?
