The hanger hacks and the shirt folding hacks just blew my mind! 🤯 gosh I’m going to show this video to my mom, I definitely want to see her mind being blown! Thanks Brittany! 💕
Yes! I used to work retail and this was how they suggested to hang clothes we put on the floor. It takes some practice but it’s helpful. It definitely made stocking our floor easier.💕
But doesn't putting each shirt on your arm and then grabbing the hangers take as much time as if you'd already be putting the hangers on the shirts? While you're standing there filling up your arms with shirts you can be putting them on the shirts already no? I'm genuinely wondering 🤔
I know not everybody is at this stage, but one night my now 21 year old son handed me something at 9:30pm and said “I need this in the morning.” My husband lost it and declared that everyone would be doing their own laundry from now on. So I taught my boys how to work the machines (they were 13 and 9) and that was the last time I did their laundry. We also used color coded baskets and everyone had assigned days they could do their laundry and you could only do it on your day without permission of whoever’s day it was. If it was your day and there was stuff in the washer or dryer, they were allowed to just throw that stuff in their brothers basket. Didn’t matter if some of it was wet or not. The first month or so was ROUGH, but they figured it out eventually and it was one of the best things my husband ever did for me. Oh when they tried to say they didn’t know how to work the machines, my husband reminded them that if they can operate their computers, phones and tablets, they could operate a simple laundry machine.
I did this with my kids too. I think the youngest was around 6. They never complained, I guess they just thought it was normal, lol. Also, if they didn't like what I fixed for meals, they were on their own!
I totally agree w the “wash everything in one load/ don’t separate whites and darks” philosophy! EXCEPT new jeans and new reds!! That can ruin a load and a day!!
I am 18 and have been washing clothes since I was 7, using a step-stool to reach. I agree. I even recently bought two pairs of dark jeans, and washed with 4 new white shirts (for work) and they didn’t bleed over.
Do you have to wash them on a heavy cycle or ? The clothes in my house never come clean on the Normal cold cycle. Mainly socks, under wear, and kids pants.
@@Starsofneon Socks and underwear I usually wash in a warm cycle with a small bit of Oxi Clean Laundry if the underwear and socks are real bad. If they have stains I spray the stains with the Oxi Clean and let it sit for a few mins before washing. That goes for all stains. Using stain remover can be time consuming but it does get the job done most of the time.
@@Starsofneon With socks and underwear I usually wash them on like a towel and sheets setting. Pants if they have stains I spray with the stain remover mentioned and I wash on delicate or you can wash on a normal setting.
@@Starsofneon Oxi Clean Laundry is amazing but wear gloves because it will make your fingers look like you bathed your fingers in peroxide. I also use an old toothbrush to scrub the stains.
Okay, I, a 28 year old women, just went to a no-fold method for myself. I now have bins for my clothes. I have a hanger for dresses and important things but the rest I toss in just like you did with Cater's clothes. For almost an entire year I lived out of laundry baskets. I couldn't care less about folding them and putting them away due to my depression/ADHD. I realized I'd rather find a method that works for me and at least keeps me somewhat organized than suffer.
I may teach my 22 year old ADHD son to do this. He does not use his dresser or closet, everything just stays in the laundry basket or all over his room. Maybe this will give him some semblance of order in a very simplified way.
@@jenn7753 I’ve only had it for a few weeks but I like it. I know where my stuff is. I can probably declutter even more to make it easier to see my stuff. But it works so far! I say why work against your tendencies.
A little hack I use for hanging clothes is laying one shirt on top of the other in a pile. Then slip the hanger through the collar of each shirt and flip the upper portion of the shirt down as you work your way to the bottom. Used this with my fiancé and now he’s able to do his laundry on his own 😆👌🏼
I do that too! 😁 Gonna try what she does though and see how well it works. Honestly looks like it might even be faster. 😋 I'm a big fan of work smarter not harder. Tbats exactly why I do my first this way hahaha. Now that I think about it, I wonder how much faster it'd actually be because I knock out so much time by doing that. 🤔😂
Yes! It works for sorting different piles also. I use the back of my couch for my shirts and jackets in separate piles, and my husband's shirts and jackets separate piles. It helps to have a sectional for my 4 piles lol
A tip I recently discovered, a lot of broken washing machines is due to the color catcher, they get a lot smaller when wet and can easily go through the holes for the water and get stuck- so the tip is, either pin them with a safety pin to a cloth you will wash or put them in a laundry bag
I use cloth color catchers, they are like washcloths that you can use over and over and over and boy they really do catch the color. When you feel they aren't doing their job anymore, you can put them in the rag bin and use them as rags. Last forever!
@@vzeimen I wasn't aware such a thing existed! I've used the disposable ones, but cloth seems much more economical and environmentally friendly. Thanks for sharing!
I folded all of my laundry while watching your video! My recent save laundry time hack is having all of the same socks, I no longer have to fold them, I just put them directly in their section of the dresser and done.
One of my time savers is having a washing net bag pegged in the hamper for socks and knickers only. I only wear black for ease of washing and when it’s full enough I throw the net bag in the machine. As I used to travel a lot with work it helped me ensure I always had clean undies and no missing socks!
I did this a while back and I dunno, maybe I’m doing it wrong. I didn’t overload the bag or anything but I found as it goes through the cycle it all bunches up into the corner of the bag and doesn’t seem to get clean.
As soon as my kids could operate an iPad, they learned how to do their own laundry. They are now 14 and 16 and I only do mine and my husband’s laundry. ☺️
Ok, you got me. Here I am feeling all smug because I already do the hanger trick. Then you pulled out the a,b,c visual and I was like 🤯 I seriously click on your videos because I know I’ll learn something EVERY stinkin time! No wonder you have so many subscribers!
Took me a few tries but I finally perfected the tshirt folding trick! It takes me forever to fold them perfectly like that but thanks to you Brittany not anymore! I’ve been telling my husband for months that I want to switch to the bin system for our 3 boys, they have so much laundry 🤯
I lay all my tops (on top of each other) on the bed. Then slip the hangers through the tops in one direction from top to bottom. I can hang up like 30 shirts in 5 min 😆
The first time my husband did a load of his whites he threw in a red shirt. 😂 Wow was he shocked to have a load of pink clothes. He never forgot that lesson.
Anyone else pause the video, get a tee-shirt, and practice folding it with Brittany? 😂😂 I can't quite perfect it though, I see it, but my lines are not as clean. I LOVE and can't wait to try the hanging up shirts method, that's what we do with our shirts anyway.
P.S. I need those laundry baskets. I don't have the biggest house so my baskets are big and bulky, they are lined up in our hallway taking up so much space. To answer Brittany's question, I would rather have someone do and put away my dishes. Laundry doesn't bother me as bad. I also like the fact I can fold laundry anywhere I choose that day: my room, my son's room, living room, or even folding straight from the dryer which I do a lot.
Wow it’s crazy because I literally started the no fold and separated hamper method 1 week ago and it’s been life changing!! I was asking for advice in an fb group because of chronic pain and a lady suggested it and it’s helped so much to decrease my pain because I’m not hunching to sort and fold.
I just used the hanging and folding hacks. That was amazing ❣️ The T-shirts are still a little rough, but each one was better than the last. Thank you! Your videos are always awesome 👏❤️
Hi Brittany - we use a clothes 'horse', so outside when warm and leave inside when raining (Cape Town so minimal dryer use). I hang our tops on hangers to dry so that it just gets hung in the wardrobe when dry. Thank you for all your time and research you put into your videos. Thanks to Ryan for his appearances too 😁.
Dishes, always dishes. Laundry is never as bad as dishes ☺️ Love this video, I've used the tub system for a year now and it's tidy and so fast! It's also easy to declutter, I just pull down a tub when I have time and go through and get rid of what I don't need. So I can declutter easily and often. Love it!
We learned this last winter. Donated all of their "fun" socks and went and bought 2 packs of the exact same sock. Thankfully they are the same since makes sorting easier
I did this and it makes life soooooo much easier!!!! But I was a little sad about no fun socks so they do have some holiday socks that are stored in with holiday decor. When the decor comes out, the socks come out. But if I do laundry and come up short a sock, I don’t hunt around, I just throw it away.
I love the bins for little ones clothes! So doing this!!! And the hanger trick is a total game changer!!!! 😍😍 deff would rather someone do my dishes for me especially now. Laundry just got a lot more fun! 😜
I just want to say that I implemented this crazy idea of doing everyone's laundry separately. House of five here, I do laundry everyday...it is LIFE CHANGING. No more sorting and folding into tiny leaning tower of Pizas. What used to take me 20 minutes takes less than 5. When I told my husband the plan he summed it up perfectly into one word "genius." Thank you Brittany, just thank you!
Imma be honest. Ive never watched this channel and i didn't really expect to learn anything lifechanging. But this whole video (especially the hanging method) kinda blew my mind
You have a laundry room and so much space, but I admit despite the small living space I am living in, its your channel that helped me decorate it declutter it keep it clean and feel cosy 🙂
I feel like prepping to fold/hang the clothes take longer than just doing them regular. By the time i lay a shirt out flat, i would've already had it folded. Just me tho. Maybe im just fast.
I would have to choose Laundry! Because I have a 15 year old daughter who has more laundry in a Week than I have in a Month!! 😂 The Folding & Hanging Hack were Mind Blowing!! Absolutely Amazing 🤯
I'm gonna say that for me, the happiness it gives me to see a perfectly organized drawer is worth the time investment. I am super particular about how I fold and hang. I love laundry. It's my favourite chore. Good hacks though!
I was skeptical there was anything new to learn regarding laundry, but the hanging shirts trick really is game changing!! Thanks so much for sharing!! I love your videos!!
I'm currently sitting between my 2 piles of "laundry system", which is one overflowing basket each for dirty and clean clothes. It's getting hard to see the floor, so tips are very welcome.
We used to do the hanger trick at Zara but not the folding that’s just magical lol also you can do it with velvet hangers just will be a little slower but not too much
My number 1 advice, fold and put away your laundry right as it gets out of the drying so you don’t have to iron, I dislike ironing SOOO much lol. We set timers during the whole laundry process but mainly for the drying part so we know exactly when to get it out (I say “we” because my hubby is the one that does the laundry most of the time 🥰)
christianwhite7141 do you use a dryer? I'm wondering why no-one mentions ironing anymore lol. I air dry my clothes on a rack and by the time they're dry they're all crinkly and I basically need to iron.
My husband used to hang all his shirts but the closet at our new home is lacking in the hanging space department so now we make shirt burritos!! We used to just roll them but then I came across the folding lady on tik tok and lives were changed lol! As usual I love your videos!!!
Omg you are a goddess thank you so much for the T-shirt folding trick i have seen it so many times before and never understood it and i just did it straight away after your demonstration !
My husband is a nurse so I have to wash his work clothes on extra hot because he sees covid patients. Its driving me crazy 😫 Edit: he's a clinic nurse, not a hospital nurse. Clinics don't launder clothing, at least not his
The marker hack is the best and I can’t believe I didn’t think or this one! The past decade! I have kids 10, 9, 6 and 4! Some really great info and ideas in this video!
Omg I think you just saved my life, laundry at our place is like 2days ordeal and it's just 🤪 crazy, and unfortunately half the time I don't even have the time to put stuff back so people complain while searching I'm the clean clothes basket... I feel like I was developing a ptsd from laundry... I need to try this like, yesterday 🤔 if possible Love you, & again thank you so much for this ❤
Love the hanger trick! the shout color catcher sheets are a must in our house! I bring them even when i travel and have to go to a laundromat. Also, a money saving tip is to get the bigger pack online like amazon. They tend to be a couple dollars cheaper than in the store.
Okay, so, I just tried the tshirt folding trick...OMG! That's amazing! I think I've seen it before somewhere but never tried it! I'm such a nerd, I can't wait for hubby to get home so I can show him! I think I need this pandemic to be over! 😂 Thanks so much! ❤️
My FAVORITE ❤ video to date!! I can’t wait to show my young adults, all your tips and tricks for hanging and folding!!! I’m actually sad that I finished all my laundry yesterday. Thank you 🙏🏼 ❤
Love the hanger hack! Totally works. Here is another tip: my laundry room is downstairs and bedrooms are upstairs. I hang everything once. Most of my clothes I hang dry on a laundry rack. I keep a stash of hangers on the rack, hang the clothes wet to dry, them bring the hung clothes up to the closet.
I have never been this connected in my soul to a RU-vidr until I found you. I am now convinced we are truly one person 🤔 I told you, somehow you make videos based on what’s happening in my life. What a coincidence! Today I have a hugeeee pile of laundry to go through , thank you so much my internet sister 😩♥️
I love the legging hack. I have 4 kids so they all have their own laundry basket and in the summer they do their own laundry. My youngest was 5 when I taught him how to do laundry and he is now 9. My kids still have bins for draws which has saved so much time with folding. Great video!
