Definitely, Laura is the best and there is no comparison. She was the real talented person who deserved to win for sure and any result else is out of honesty. Laura you are above any level of competition and your voice and your gifted talent is really, really priceless.......
A kid with a ukulele vs. an opera singer with a beautiful voice. I'm sure Grace is a nice kid but I didn't get what people liked about her. Laura will be singing on international stages one day.
Neither my husband nor I could believe Grace won AGT 2016. She definitely couldn't measure up to the other finalists. We almost didn't want to watch AGT 2017 because we couldn't believe Grace won! Even if America didn't like opera, the other finalists were so much more talented
Laura is the best no contest. She has a beautiful voice. Listen to Opera growing up and this little girl performed better than some of the best of the past.
These girls have 2 differnt styles of singing. Laura has the most beautiful sounding voice. It took years of practice and it shows. Doesn't matter what stylie of music Laura is given she will make them all sound beautiful . Grace won't be able to do this. There is a big demand for both types of music. So the winners are the public to have such young ladies that can entertain millions of people and bring a smile of our faces!
I agree, but there is a little error in your comment ... Laura never had a proper vocal training, not even for opera. Her voice is natural, native, and definitely it's not the product of some hard vocal training or practice.
I agree,Grace is a original talent,but Laura is something more,AGT never will have an other like Laura is more than original,is something wich happen one time.
Aw that season of AGT was one if the best with many fantastic girl singers under the age of 18. Laura and Grace were two of my favs. For the Finale, I did give all my votes to Laura..I hear she at least one the Romanian version of AGT. I hope she keeps up with opera, she is spellbinding. I believe she was 13-14 during this competition and will get even better at 16,18, 21 etc!

I think personally that Laura should be the winner. Yes, Grace did win but, Laura is more unique. There is not many people who can hit that high notes. However Grace most likely won because her singing was more mainstream and not much know the true opera after living in such modern world.
I'm an 80's headbanger, the voice of laura is flawless and it brings joy to my heart and sometimes tears to my eyes...OK OK tears.....all the time.....

I finally get why she lost we in America are a little lost when comes to divine operatic voices verses the norm we just don't have a clue, go figure! Wow!.
Not everyone in America got to watch when the final aired, nor got to vote. It is probably almost impossible for such voting to work very good. Even judges don't think the same when it comes to opera, pop, country, etc. That Grace may have made up some of the songs she sang is nice. Her voice is nothing like Laura's. Americans are appreciating Opera more now than a few years ago. Laura will earn LOTS in her career. 😇
It works both ways. Laura also gets perhaps more credit than she deserves because Americans really don't know much about opera. For example, Laura articulates/enunciates poorly. Fortunately for her, most American TV viewers have no idea she's blurring/slurring all of the lyrics since the lyrics are in a foreign language. Some folks accuse Grace of doing the same thing with her songs, but once you learn the lyrics you can hear them pretty clearly in her singing. With Laura, even if you know the lyrics and the language, her words are virtually incomprehensible.
You may be right about that. She should stop using it ad infinitum . Just the bare necessity. She is also in deficit with the normal sound length of the words. Some times a liitle short, sometimes a bit long. They could be corrected with proper teaching. But her vocal sound is one of the best in the guild. It covers everything and some.

true, but it cannot be denied that Laura has an exceptionally good voice. The language she can learn - Grace cannot build a voice she naturally does not have, on the other hand, Grace can apparently write, that makes her what italian call a cantautrice, a completely different type of singer

I said all along that Laura was by far the best singer out of all the other that appear on AGT that year. she is doing very well over in Romania, and she would do very well in Europe when that time comes around.

They got it correct, Grace is a comet that will scorch across the skies of fame and heartily deserves her moment in the spotlight. On the other hand, Laura is a vastly brilliant Nebular that if shown the right path, will be forever in and among the greatest of opera and operetta stars, her glory will far exceed anything that appears on this type of talent show. Watch carefully her passion for what she is singing and remember, the words of her songs are little understood by those hearing opera for the first time and judgement is done on her voice alone. Move over Maria Callas and La Stupenda!

Taste has nothing to do, here. There is no way to compare these two. They are in completely different legues. Laura if far more superior, and she is the winner, no matter what the public votes.

Laura was my favorite all the way through her singing awakened my spirit, beautiful, Yes im from the Pacific, as for Grace with the Ukelele thats definately not our tune, its a no brainer so easy to play and learn

Grace won the show not because she has the best voice, but because her music is more commercial than the opera that sings Laura. Laura is always the most beautiful voice I ever heard, she is outstanding. I know all this shows are Cheats
Between Laura and Grace are both very gifted. My hope is to see Laura in the opera's in Chicago and NewYork. And to see Grace keep climbing the chart as I do believe will happen. Both are gifted their must in different categories. They are both great and my.heart soars listening to them both.
The are both so different! Totally different tonality, but beautiful tones of their own. It's really about what you love more : Opera or contemporain! For me is Opera, touch my soul more!
Let's be honest, americans today, majority who are voting, do not appreciate classical music. Here is the answer and not elsewhere. Laura has a voice incomparable to that of Grace. Grace should be congratulated because she compose her songs and for a specific vocal. But Laura has a voice that rises to the sky.
And Grace has a voice incomparable to Laura's. They are very different voices for very different kinds of music. Some people like sopranos. Some people like raspy voices. Some like both. As for Americans appreciating classical music, it's because Americans don't know much about classical music that they don't notice the flaws in Laura's singing, like her vibrato and her lack of articulation/enunciation.
They recognize pyrotechnics. It's a shame, but the singing in these shows becomes reduced to hitting high notes and the vocal equivalent of firework displays. Simple, beautiful music gets lost in the process. That was even true for Grace in that she took her wonderful lyrical original "I'll hold your hand" and added more crescendos and fireworks to it for the show and even renamed it to "A beautiful thing" in the process.
Let's be honest. What we heard wasn't great classical music. It was the same popular arias and choral pieces every classical or crossover singer sings on these shows and performed at about the same level but not appreciably better and perhaps worse. Look up Jackie Evancho, Amira Willighagen, and Paul Potts. We've been here before.
Laura had a wonderful inspirational original song she wrote in reserve called Walk By Faith that she elected not to sing because it is over four minutes long. Grace's most popular original song on AGT was the one she sang in the first audition. It was also a shorter variation of a longer song she wrote. Grace realized that using shorter variations of a song can change the meaning but she did it anyway and won the competition. You never know how an audience will react to an unfamiliar variation. Laura was cautious and elected not to do a variation while Grace rolled the dice and won all the marbles.
True, and Walk by Faith is INCREDIBLE. Grace said they had to submit the songs for approval, and then do videos of each one, multiple times, before they give the ok. They originally said "no" to "I don't know my name" but then came back after all of her submissions and ok'ed it. I wonder if Laura even tried, or she just went with what was successful in RGT.
They almost never allow a singer to sing one of his or her own originals because the general audience usually can't appreciate an original upon first hearing. It's a testament to Grace's songwriting skills that they allowed her to sing her original AND it immediately connected with the audience. Then Grace proceeded to sing only originals during her run on the show. Probably unprecedented in the history of American singing or talent shows.
I don't think she Laura wanted to sing 'Walk by Faith" Probably 'O mio babbino caro' was her choice from the beginning. In the RGT Final she intertpreted 'Vissi d'arte' (Tosca). Phenomenal. It woudn't make any difference any way. The AGT plebs choice was Grace before the contestants began the competion. Hands down, by the millions.
+nmoraru You say that as if having a voice that millions love is a bad thing. By the way, Grace just signed with Columbia Records and joins the likes of Adele, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, and Celine Dion there. Not bad company for an aspiring pop singer.

My opinion: Laura does not need the title of winner to be successful , her success is guaranteed. On the other hand, sweet Grace will be a one hit wonder who needs the help of the title. But, thats just me..... Love you Laura :)
Okay since everyone is so against Grace in here: PLEASE LOOK AT HER NOW, apart from the fact that she's just adorable, awesome singer and she composed every song by herself at the age of 13, NOW she has been given a lot of awards and lots of people enjoy her music, you cannot say that she didnt deserve to win; Laura is incredible too, and if you dont know it she won Romanian Got Talent before going to AGT, but I hope she also will have a great musical carreer she deserved it too

Laura and Grace are both winners in there own right. People say the most stupid things when they compare each singer. The fact of the matter is provided they are nurtured in the best possible way they will be DIVAS in there own right (as long as they keep there humility)..THEY WILL BE WELL LOVED...........

As Howie said to Laura, if you do not go far, then there is somthing wrong with this show. Yes, the Wrong is that she didn't win the champion, she has been the best. Its not a put down, Grace is wonderful as well, but she cannot be compared with Laura, they are in differente level.
I'm sure that Grace has appeal but, in the eyes and ears of this seventy two year old "Brit", it's no contest! Only Laura can reduce me to tears of emotion, which is always a good indicator, as with "Goose Bumps! All I can say is it could be worse, because whoever gets the vote would have lost out big time, here on BGT, to a blasted dog!
Tenía que ganar Greace, pues es la que tenía proyección musical. A pesar de la tremenda voz de Laura. Grace es compositora y tiene una gran voz tb, sus canciones son pegajosas. Laura hace solo cover, aunque vocalmente lejos sea mejor . Sin desmerecer. Están bien los resultados. Me gustan las dos, me paran los pelos ambas.

Hasta hoy veo este video, la comparación es solo el morbo de cada fan, definitivamente y en el estricto sentido de la lógica de tu correcta opinion, estoy de acuerdo en el sentido teórico...pero he visto conciertos de Laura Bretan, y creeme que tienen un talento y carisma, que la gente le atrae demasiado, si son covers y tienen unas interpretaciones fenomenales en auditorios internacionales...mas que nada en europa. La verdad, las dos son talentosas, pero en su carrera y futuro, las dos tendrán éxito...sin embargo, Laura tiene un publico muy distinto y muy diferente a Greace. THIS TALENT COMPETITION IS FOR BEST VOICE, SO Sorry to say, Grace can not match Laura ,.. Laura touched my heart ,NO wonder SHE makes every one stand for her performance, The Judges know that LAURA BRETAN , SHOUD HAVE GOT IT, 100% , BUT Because She Sing OPERA people gave it to Grace, so it was not for the best voice, it's who they like , MY JUDGEMENT GOES TO LAURA BRETAN SORRY TO SAY GRACE TO ME WAS NO WERE NEAR THE BEST, ..
