Laura Tobin is an English broadcast meteorologist and scientist. She worked for the BBC before moving to ITV in 2012. She currently presents the weather bulletins for Good Morning Britain.
In this week’s episode Aimee and Laura take a stroll around Richmond and discuss Laura’s career, lifestyle habits and how she stays positive for her early morning starts. They discuss her childhood and how growing up with a competitive twin brother made her constantly strive for the best. She now takes this competitiveness into social situations, like the time her team won The Ultimate News Quiz (a charity event to raise money for Action for Children), and she ended up sleeping through her news broadcast the next morning.
They also discuss the immediacy of the climate crisis. As a broadcast meteorologist, Laura has seen first-hand how the climate crisis is currently affecting the planet. Her book ‘Everyday Ways to Save Our Planet’ details the simple ways individual people can change their daily habits to help combat and reduce global warming. She tells Aimee some of the simple tips you can implement into your daily life to change the state of the planet. Despite being fearful for her six-year-old daughter’s future she stays positive and hopeful, saying, ‘No-one can do everything, but everyone can do something’.
