When hiking back up your Death stairs, I called that "cardiac hill". The "cut thru" at 7:02 was made for a narrow gauge railroad that was used to harvest trees. If you hike up above on your left side, there is a small foot trail that follows a ridge up to Potato Top. Best view in the area. You will be shocked at how the river winds around this knoll to get to the falls

Thanks for the tip! I've always seen that trail but never thought anything of it. Just thought it was a place kids liked to go up that hill. I'll have to check it out next time I'm out there!
