Lawman Bass Reeves is a great series. I would hope for a season 2. But I think one of the lines in the show made it be a conclusion.

Bass Reeves was definitely a man of impeccable character. He brought his own son to justice after I believe he killed his wife. Today's politicians, both Republicans and Democrats could learn something about character from Bass Reeves.

I am currently doing a deep dive into the Reconstruction period to help with my genealogy research. Ms. Banks did an excellent job. The scene that stood out to me, when Jennie Reeves former enslaver tried to intimidate and force Jennie to work for her again. She also wanted access to Jennie’s children. Thousands of Black children were taken from their newly freed parents and communities. The children were placed in “apprenticeships” that lasted until adulthood or longer. Jennie’s former human trafficker could have taken her children. The system often sided with the enslavers. I felt the tension in the scene. Historical context intensifies the experience.

This was great series. It makes Bass Reeves and the times more complicated.

How much of Jennie’s story was based on historical documents vs. the creativity of the writers to develop a three dimensional character.

Very surprised to have this spin off of Yellowstone. I enjoyed the first season! I don’t remember any advertising of this show. I just happened to see it and started watching.

Hey Karen & guest, good show! I have to finish watching, stopped at him going off after his nemesis 🤨 Yet, I wonder Karen (& guest) if you saw or remember the TV mini series circa 2015 'The Book of Negros' It was about the POC who fought on the side of the British during the Revolutionary War - like fighting with/for your oppressor, it is a part/piece of history that I hadn't known - somewhat like the story of the Kushites & their rule of the 25th Dynasty of Egypt (from PBS series on 'The Black Pharaoh's!) The bigots of the past have withheld history, as they today seek to erase it & yet we still stumble upon it because as my granny use to say "What's hidden in the dark will always come to the light!" Namaste
