Same here i hated this fight with every fiber of my being and i still struggle with it more than any other boss in the franchise, its more of a battle of attrition and you need to take your time with it, first time i ever beat Laurence i was crying utter tears of joy
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but every single time I go in for an attack and try to get away, I always always get stuck in his fists pounding against the floor when he's crawling. And if I try to stay away from him and wait for him to shoot the fire breath, it's usually very hard to get around him when I'm getting backed up too much against the other side of the room.
You could try backing up a bit to bait the ranged attack but maybe don't back up the length of the full arena. Just a decent distance that baits the ranged attack. Then you should be able to get to him in time. Or. Stay at his side when he does the claw crawl. And try to stick to his side as much as possible whilst he does that crawl.
@@Azzavhar Oh yeah, meant to report back but forgot: the "donut" method worked like a charm. Took a few tries even after getting to that phase, but staying by his left side made that attack a breeze to dodge. The only times he was able to hit me after that was when he swiped me and I wasn't read to dodge in the correct direction. Thank you very much for the help, it was way less frustrating now that I knew how to deal with the crawling.
I was stupid and finished the base game first, then I saw that the dlc was on sale. Now I have to beat this bullshit boss on new game plus. I got him down to a slither of health and then got greedy and died😂🤦🏽♂️
@@Azzavhar eventually got it and then went on to easily first try living failures and lady maria😂 I honestly thought I was going to struggle on Maria but she was so easy
No boss has never made me want to break my controller so badly before, hardest boss in bloodborne IMO. I can get him to his third phase but for some reason I just can't kill him. Everytime I circle around him in his third phase he finds some way to 1 shot me.
yeah this fight sucks so bad, such an awfully designed RESKIN… took me more attempts than all other dlc bosses, and the attacks are just telegraphed so poorly. don’t even get me started on the 2nd phase
@@Azzavhar thank you! it took me a few days, but i eventually got it down and beat him. probably the most difficult time i’ve had with a boss in bloodborne
Playing Bloodborne for the first time only 36hrs in and nearly got platinum. This boss had the upper hand on me a few times but the way I look at it is if I can whoop Melania on Elden Ring can whoop any boss on the soulsborne franchise
I played DS1 & DS2, and I can't stop comparing Bloodborne to Dark Souls, the combat is just way too different and I struggle to adapt (my fault, I know, but sometimes there are bosses that seemed unfair to fight, I've beaten the Fume Knight Raime in DS2, but only Father Gascoigne made me throw my controller). The Bosses in DS have a generous window after their attack that the player can exploit, but man! Bloodborne is different for me, I see very little window for me to punish a Boss. I think Miyazaki designed the game so that the terrifying Boss' screams distract players, I'm one of them, God! that awful screams. I fought Ludwig with little sound as possible.
It required so much focus, commitment and sheer fking will that by the time I finally won, I was mentally drained asf. The feeling of joy, relief and exhaustion mixed forcing me take a few deep breaths and rest my mind for a bit. Honestly bloodborne is the first game to make me focus so much and feel so many emotions at the same time!
First 25 tries I kept trying to get behind, but soon after I realized it's better to stay in front and have a better view of when he does his triple sweep combos. Get right in front of him to bait his triple pound attack, which gives a big opening to hit after the third hit. Stay away when he does his sweep attack combos. I INSTANTLY went from being unable to get past half HP to getting to 1/8 HP after changing my strategy from getting behind to staying in front and being more selective with when I put in hits. Just simply don't get near or try to hit during his sweep combos because those are impossible to deal with unless you're really good. I finally beat him at 32 tries, only 7 tries after changing strategy.
I also did that (locked on onto him) but his swipe attacks, I can't dodge through it, that's why it is very difficult to fight him at close range. There is also that BS that after he finishes an attack, he jumps back, leaving player unable to punish him, it is frustrating.
@@deathrodamus9608 Just stand back and run around the arena during the swipes. Baiting the three smash attack combo which does leave an opening is the core of the front side method. It might seem like it will take long but it doesnt. Basically only getting near to bait the smash combo.
Once I got the skull of lawrence, I headed to his boss fight. I summoned the dude that you can summon on ludwig and I managed to end him on my first try. He always did moves that left him wide open? So Im considering it was all luck.
My fights go better than this already so that is encouraging I guess because it just shows that once in a while you get lucky no matter how terrible you are so I guess I'll get lucky here sometime probably much quicker than this person here
I found it much more effective to dodge in a clockwise rotation around the boss to get to his back and then back off, wait for him to around turn around, and repeat. Legless phase I lock onto him and spam the side dodge sticking to his smaller arm typically. I like to bait out his lava vomit attacks and side dash to get to his head and attack. His moveset isn’t very complex, his damage makes this a slog for people.
I beat this dude first try but on NG+ he is killing me in just 2 hits 😂 I know I can learn his patterns but the road back to this boss is just too much that's why I am watching this video 😂
So I played all of the dlc on NG+ and honestly Laurence may be the hardest boss I’ve played in any of the soulsborne games. His hp is ludicrous and he does crazy damage. As of writing this I still haven’t beat him after roughly 3-4 hours
@@Freesliterature Nice work. I'm glad you got your win. That must have felt awesome. 👍 Thank you for watching my videos ✅ And thank you for your support. 👑 💯
Glad I could help! Yes! Dark Cloud is a masterpiece game. I'm happy you enjoyed the music :) You may also enjoy my Bloodborne boss guides: ru-vid.com/group/PLqpGk7JGu_zwlFY8MzngpJ1xaO1MISCbb
Bro 80 Vitality? WTF? Your dedication to leveling up is very impressive, I'm stuck fighting him and I only have 40 Vitality with 40 Skill build and maxed out Threaded Cane. My damage to him is just a tickle, without the beast blood pellet.
I‘m here at ng+++ at lv 190. beaten every other boss of the dlc but need to kill this guy for the trophy. I am using the help from vargl but he dies at P3 every time and it’s getting impossible because this guy is one shotting me with almost every hit :D
Hoonters, keep in mind, these are all great strats, but it’s still not going to be “easy”. I used these strategies in my ng+ run through the dlc (first time playing the dlc) and they did help, BUT it’s still an incredibly annoying fight due to the awkward size of the arena (long but narrow) and just how long Lawrences third phase can last if he’s not doing the lava spew. I found it a more frustrating fight than orphan but, crucially, not more difficult. Just be patient and willing to learn the timing of the attacks, they’re not too hard but you really gotta stay focused
I just beat Laurence. I saved him for last because he's kind of responsible for the main story of Bloodborne so he felt pretty appropriate as the final boss of the DLC. Also I had a lot of anger pent up from fighting the Orphan that I wanted to take out on Laurence. That said I found Laurence significantly easier than the Orphan. First half of the fight, I fought him straight up with the Chikage, and once his stupid legs blew off I just shot him with arrows from the Bowblade until he died. Laurence is the only boss I used a ranged weapon against in any significant way but I was in no mood. I killed him and Orphan on the same day. W BLOODBORNE!
I’m trying this dlc in my ng+1 I had already completed the base game and now bought the DLC I’m stuck with Laurence but every other boss has been easy for me so far. I think I just don’t know how to fight beast bosses. (I’m also stuck with BLB in the chalice dungeons)
That final phase is so much easier. Three times he took me to beat. Third try was the first attempt i got to his final phase. Bait him to do that flamethrower attack and then punish.
I don’t get how you don’t get hit by his lava spray in phase 3. I get hit everytime which makes this impossible. I try running or dodging to the side but it doesn’t matter. I always get hit.
@@Azzavhar yeah I almost had him a few times but he seems to track me with the spray when trying to run around to his side on phase 3. Im on NG+ so I heard bosses are harder. I think I’m going to continue the NG+ main game story until I can upgrade my saw spear to 10. I was fighting him with a +8 saw spear. Also try to get my strength and skill both to 50. They are at 45 or 46 now.
I know you have already beaten this boss but for the people that are curious i am at Level 160 and i dont feel overleveled at all. In a matter of fact i am still struggling against Lawrence and Orphan. So if you plan on play the DLC on NG+ try to get level 160 or even higher if you want.
Agree he killed me 70 times in a row and I refuse to summon. I Gave up on the game . At least Ludwig was fun and fair and you could get the rhythm down
Yeah, the fire AOE is BS, and the window to punish him after his attacks in his phase 1 & 2 is very little. And don't forget that backward jump too after an attack, it is impossible to land an attack on him.
@@gnielsen07 Ludwig gave me a hard time, his phase 1 is insane, the amount of attack he does is just crazy, all I can do is run. Managed to beat his ass tho, it took a while. After beating him, I immediately bashed his head without talking to him, that's how much I hated the guy, I don't care about his lore, I just want him dead, period.
Maybe if you pretend that that you won’t take damage from his aoe you can stand right in the middle of it and be fine… I swear it’s as if the AOE does no damage in every RU-vid tutorial I see!
I dont no why but i mostly beat him in first attempt. I just yeet to his ass and spam dodge, attack, dodge and attack and then phase three comes and i just do things
Really? I tried standing to his sides and back in phase 1 & 2, but his side swipes attacks still get me. And that delayed ground slam with the BS AOE is hard to dodge, if I manage to dodge the slam, the freaking fire AOE will get me.
Well can someone help me I use the eye pendant and got up to upper floor using the elevator and then I use the hunter mark now.. I can't access the upper floor is there anyway that you can access the upper floor
@@blublugamingchannel You could always level grind for a while. Grind enemies. Level up loads. Go back after raising your stats a bit. Make sure your weapons are all upgraded to maximum. Try again after checking some of your equipment, gear and levelling up a bit. Good luck. 🍀
@@Azzavhar the arena is too narrow for his wide attacks and the lava trailing behind him stun locking you constantly is just artificial difficulty. I do admit I was salty when I made this comment but I ended up finally beating him lol. Easily the worst boss in the DLC, and I'm never fighting him again lol
