Laurent [Les Twins] Freestyle - BTM Experience Battle 2023 

Having see him live at this event, let me tell you, this kind of battle format is perfect for Laurent. The usual battle format where they only have like 1 min per round is way too short for Laurent to show what he is capable of. At BTM they have 3 min per round some even more and that's just what Laurent needs... time. Time to build up his freestyle. Laurent is a slow starter, he needs time to get into the music, feel all layers of it, get in the zone and build up his freestyle, but when you only have 1min you can't do all that so, he is forced to get to the point faster and for someone who like to accentuate different layers of the music he just doesn't have enough time to do it as much as he wants to. But with this battle you can really see what a genius he is. He begins each rounds by taking his time to feel the music and build up his freestyle, then you'll have those explosive moments and he will slow down and build it up again. He will explore all aspect of the music and for a non dancer like me it was mind-blowing especially the last freestyle. Also what I have noticed with his opponents and other dancers at this event is that when you are used to attacking a specific part of the music, after 1 min things kinda feel repetitive because we've seen it and we know what's coming so, for those dancers this format can be a nightmare because there is too much time and they don't know what to do with it. In Lau's case it's the opposite, the more time he has the stronger he get and more detailed. He switch effortlessly from one beat to another, to the melody, vocals, lyrics, every aspect of the music will be attacked and let's not forget the storytelling. He will literally go BEYOND THE MOVE like in his last freestyle where he puts us in trance and left us wondering if he is really human or whether we were dreaming. Nothing but love and respect for him and his art.

Laurent is the best dancer in the world right now. Bar none. He has too much range. Too much versatility. Too much creativity. Too much stamina. As soon as I heard Reverse by Anvibus, I knew it was a wrap. His brother has danced to it, you knew he had that song in his library. 7:30 is the best round of 2023 already IMO. And that is by FAR the best round I have seen for that song. Godly. As always.
