Laurie and Amy are so adorable, I'm SUCH a hopeless romantic. This film fuels so much of my fantasies. & it definitely helps that I'm obsessed with period pieces and that Timothy and Florence give my bi heart butterflies 🥰

@@violetmoon4531 I think he'll always love jo. She was his first love so there is some attachment left there but mostly bcuz she is his best friend. However I think laurie understands that he would be unhappy with jo. After amy he saw that jo gave him excitement and all the youthful high, but amy made him see who he could be as a person and makes him become a better version of himself. She makes him confront all his fears instead of making him forget it all. With amy, his character stepped out of immaturity and childhood, whereas with jo he was a bad version of himself. They make each other good. I think that's real love. Besides he does end up bring grateful to jo and admitted that she was right about them afterall
@kayleen6875
@kayleen6875 2 года назад
@@violetmoon4531 Well yeah I agree with other versions of the movies but this one specifies how Laurie’s feelings for Jo changed from a “romantic” to a platonic friendship. Like he mentioned in the movie. “I love you Jo, I always did. But the love I feel for Amy is different.” It meant that after Amy came into his life as a romantic person he started feeling like he should be more mature than ever and he tried bringing his best self for Amy changing himself so it would be the best for her. While on with Jo he wanted to stay the it was forever. So yeah Laurie’s love for Amy is more mature while Jo’s was childhood love

I like this adult version of Amy. Still herself as she was in child ... headstrong with a contagious smile just with more maturity. Some other versions made it seem like she turn it into a extremely elegant and graceful, reserved painter who became quite sophisticated and that Laurie was captivated by her beauty and grace. Or so I felt.(although I haven't seen many adaptations) This makes it seem like they fell for each other's character. That is good.

I know people have said it, but Amy and Laurie are ultimately much better for each other. Jo's assessment of what her and Laurie's future relationship would have been like was completely accurate. The "love" Laurie had for Jo wasn't love, it was infatuation, and while infatuation is great for romance, it's a horrible thing to build a marriage on. If anyone thinks that Laurie seems less passionate about Amy, it's because he's not obsessively infatuated with her, which means he can see her and respect her as an actual human being. Amy and Laurie will be much happier in their marriage, they obviously love each other, and they work much better as a team. Laurie and Jo feed into each other's bad habits and make them stronger. Amy and Laurie feed into each other's good habits and make them stronger. Having that quality makes for a slightly uncomfortable attraction initially, but leads to a healthier relationship in the future.

In my interpretation of this movie, Laurie was infatuated with jo when he was a kid, but that’s all it was, a childhood crush. Like Jo herself said, their personalities clashed and they wouldn’t work well as a couple. But with Amy, he got to know her on a deeper level and saw her in a way he never had before. As for Amy, Laurie was the first boy she liked after she spent time with him and liked his personality. With her and Fred it sounded like he was away a lot on business, and the fact that she was still hung up on Laurie she couldn’t love Fred in the way she should’ve.

I feel like this movie does such a good job of portraying love through these two characters, especially laurie. His love for jo was a childhood infatuation although at his heart he did care for her. He was too folded in the idea of love and blinded by her that he could not see the truth of their relationship. Whereas his love for amy blossoms bcuz she actually makes him become a better version of himself and he finally stepped out of his own immaturity and grew into the man he could see himself becoming because she made him see all that. He fell in love with her for more than just childish fun and I think that's real love. This movie was just wonderful

I think this is perfectly what (was is Halsey?) Halsey I think said. That there is this love when you’re all giddy and have butterflies in your stomach and that love that calms you, comforts you and makes you feel safe and relaxed. Laurie feel giddy with Jo and has this exciting feeling the butterflies in his stomach and she makes him feel excited/agitated. But Halsey said to be with the person that’s calm and comforts you who makes you feel safe and sound. Jo and Laurie get along because of their unruly personality they both are adventurous and rebellious but Amy calm this rebellious side in Laurie and helps him keep his feet on the ground. Like the scene in the painting room where he asks why she’s so hard on him and she says that someone has to. She looks after him and helps him keep in the right path. You could say she’s his rock. Jo and Laurie are waves and they would only crash into each other and destroy each other.

Amy is the only character who speaks the truth to laurie in his face and makes him see himself for what he is, while also reminding him he can be better. Whereas jo and laurie just indulged in excitement and youthful high. It's like giving a child endless candy it's delicious but it's unhealthy and the child themselves will regret it later on. Amy opened laurie's eyes to the world and himself. He stepped out of immaturity because of her and grew to love her deeply out of gratitude and for who she is, which is different to jo bcuz she only made him indulge in fun but no actual growth. Which is why I think laurie becomes grateful to jo and admits that she was right all along about them. Laurie's feelings for jo were more sudden than fot amy if u ask me, but there was actual growth there so dw. He does love her

Omg, I love them so much. Amy and Laurie ❤️😘 I know that Jo didn't really loved Laurie the same way he loved her, she even went to NY when she realized that Laurie had become fond of her.

When I watched the 1994 version, I couldn't see them as a couple. I mean, I saw Amy as a kid (because she's one in the beginning) and I never associated her with Laurie at first (bc by the age difference, he was about Jo's age). When the second part came and put them together, it felt strange to me. She was more mature and he was... lost in his own feelings? Confused? The development was very weak and I couldn't feel their chemistry. I couldn't tell if he really loved her, it all happened way too fast. But one of the things I really loved about this 2019 version is how Greta was able to develop their relationship. I was finally able to truly understand their romance.

Eu amo esse casal, mas só nesse filme! (eu ainda não li o livro) pq a versão de 1994 é bizarra!, ela é uma criança! (no caso a Amy) e é só muito estranho!

"Oh there is a girl" "That's a girl" "Hello there! Are you hurt?" Also her: I'm Amy.. :'( Laurie: Hello Amy, I'm Laurie ^~^ Amy: I know, you brought my sister back after the dance :') Amy: I would have never sprained my ankle. ✨I have lovely small feet. The best in the family✨ I don't why is that whole scene so funny 💀💀💀 I notice that when Laurie said "Well maybe I didn't recognize you because you're so beautiful" and then Amy told him to stop and he said "I thought you like that sort of thing?" shows how much Laurie knows about Amy, it's so cute! Also I might be Bi for this two-
