+AmandaAndrews101xoxo She is actually still producing music. This is the first album she did that didn't include the Fugees. She was on a hiatus for a bit because between 2005 and 2007 she didn't pay taxes in attempt to cleanse herself of society and the pressure and went to prison for a bit recently. But she's out now and she's loving her music!
I love this song! She's actually saying something that makes some sense! Not like today's music just all about money and whatever other material things -_-
This is why i do not listen to mainstream music. If you dont listen to it. Then you could make a difference. All they seem to care about these days is sex. And sexing everything up.. i mean seriously sexing up a candy bar!?! Why?.. they are teaching the future generations the wrong message my friends. "/ its sad but true. These clowns that are the most famous stars need to just stop making music because it is staught up SHIT
It makes total sense why after hearing all the acclaimed best female rappers (including young) why hill is always best in my mind. Most women's rap sounds off w the whole gender stigma of it bc some of them focus on speed, etc but completely lack flow, rhythm which is the core to rap the art form, before all the bling & image bullshit. The rhythm time keeping Lauren keeps this by even stating the first word of the next bar keeping her syllables same count every time. That's so important. But Lauren owned it; u can listen & tell she didn't spend a second thinking this was a man exclusive game or that she cudnt hold up bc of the gender bullshit. She was too smart for it all, she saw rap as non-owned-by-any-group free art form that it is, one she was entitled to, and she completely made it her own with her own style. Had she copied any one else she'd have been nobody. Lauryn hill was too smart for it all. Soul & rhythm is the core of rap, and no retarded homosapian-social norms change that
Wow. I've practically grew up listening to (classic) Rap and Hip-Hop, and to compare that to the kind of Rap we listen to now, the new kind is pretty terrible. Am I the only one here who actually noticed that Rap, R&B, and Hip-Hop is getting real bad nowadays? Classic Rap and Hip-Hop were way better back in the 80's and 90's. Where is DR. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Tupac, Lauryn Hill and the other old famous rappers at? We need you all now!!
because today theyre not talking about real life and politics in their music. They're racing to see who can create a new language and rap about the same thing in different ways but with the same beats...
Yes if you listen closely. If you don't listen closely it can sound like a boys voice. Kind of like people mistaken Justin Beiber for a girl in the song Baby.
THEOFFFICIAL M2F There is so much symbolism behind this song, it's amazing. I feel the religious part is generally speaking about people (specifically women in this case) who don't walk their talk. They don't follow their beleif systems, traditions or values. They say they do for society sake and to impress the opposite sex, but clearly, the truth is shown through their actions "sleeping with the gin" a.k.a giving up their body so quick in the sack, while they know deep down that it is toxic and poison on their soul, so they are not fooling anybody. They are just filling a void by numbing it. They are trying to show that they are a hard rock by trying to give in to the men's seduction but really they can't handle it. They will eventually end up feeling used and guilty for their actions trying to be something they are not. Lauren is giving caution and reminding you that you're more than that "precious Gem". Mind you, this is some women, not all. The song is basically telling us to be honest with oneself. If these women want to be a "hard rock" then it shouldn't bother them going to bed at night. Hope I made sense! LOL
