Law enforcement experts call surviving Bristol cop a hero

The Office of the Inspector General Monday released a preliminary report on the deadly force used by Bristol Police officer Alec Iurato against the suspect in the shooting deaths of Bristol Police Sargent Dustin DeMonte and officer Alex Hamzy, who were allegedly ambushed from behind.
The Office of the Inspector General said that based on preliminary evidence Iurato was justified in killing 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher, who fired over 80 shots at the officers.

The real pain is still yet to come for this young surviving Officer. Mental health is looked down upon in this profession. It’s impact is often not felt for years. I only hope the healing help he will need finds him right away.

This young man is a hero. He'd been injured, knew the fate of his fallen brothers, composed himself, used his training and eliminated the threat. The literal definition of heroic if you ask me.

As a retired Bristol Police Officer and former USA Army Veteran Infantry combat trained this Officer did everything by the book and perfectly taking out the shooter who killed two brother officers 👮‍♀️ with just one shot to the neck! He is indeed a hero in my book and stopped the threat so he could not kill anymore! God Bless the Great Officer! TLAV106

People don’t realize how hard it is to hit a target like that from that distance with a handgun. Especially with that much adrenaline, and fight/flight response still fresh in the body.

God bless this officer for his bravery! Hope he makes a full recovery from his injuries and prayers for the families of the 2 officers who were murdered. Too many officers being ambushed by these monsters. Guy probably had a criminal record yet back out on the street.
