Hi Lynnea I got accepted to law school!! I still can't believe!! Just wanted to share some of my news :) Thank you for your video gotta try some of your tips
I'm just a freshman in college and I know I have plenty of time, but I guess just watching your videos on law school have made me feel better that I'm most likely going to go forward with law school after college!
I cannot believe you guys are allowed to take notes into the exam!! In UK you are only allowed ONE book - Statutes. No notes, no other books, no cases, nothing. Everything has to be memorised.
I think the logic behind it is that the exams are testing to see how you apply information, not necessarily if you can memorize information which you have hopefully demonstrated by getting good enough grades in University to get into a Law program. You still definitely need to have a good grasp of the material as you won't have time to walk into that exam with your notes and nothing learned in advance.
Your videos are really helpful! I'm doing my undergrad right now. I got to see University of Ottawa when I was on a student government trip there and it is beautiful! Ottawa is really beautiful. I'm from Vancouver so I'm hoping to go to UBC. But it's nice to see a Canadian law school student since it's more relatable.
Hi Lynnea! Your videos are fantastic! I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in seeing another 'a week in law school' video whenever you have time to film one of those. Keep it up! :)
can you make a video on how you make your notes and summaries? like do you write your own notes right after each lecture? how do you find time? or do you only make these summaries when you have an exam coming up? i have a hard time keeping up with my professors. i study civil engineering but i always find myself behind in class. in lectures i have my notebook and i write everything the professor says but when i get home i don't really have time to review my class notes or write my own notes separately, and thus i fall behind in every class and get really stressed out before the exams. i wanna follow your method as it looks very organized, so a video explaining your method of studying (how you type your notes, when you print them out, how you prepare for your classes and such) would be very appreciated! best of luck
I take notes on the readings before class, and then I take notes in class as well. I use my notes as my summary, so I don't re-write them, I just take out the stuff I don't need. I print everything about a week before my exam, to study from. And I rarely review my notes after class - I don't have time for that either!
I'm in law school and I've only had one class that had an open book test. I know you don't need to know every single law by heart. However, you need to memorize basic rules and know how to apply them. In my experience and my understanding is that open book law school exams are uncommon, they are certainly not the norm.
Hey Lynnea you're one of my favourite law school related youtubers I really like your videos. I'm only in grade 11 but they're still helpful. I hope you can make more frequent videos over time. lots of love
We did that in our exams where you are given a scenario and you have to figure out is the plaintiff right to bring this case to court and then you have to say what has been done wrong against him and then you have to describe what action has to take place afterwards . Enjoyed those type of questions
I am studying Law in September 2020 and English is my second language , I watched some videos about law course and honestly I gave up. Native English speakers say they study 10 hours a day and still think it is a difficult subject to study , now I am thinking how will it be for me with no fluently speak and have two small children. Gosh what will happen?😕
I love all of your videos! Keep doing what your doing! Also, I see you have a Series of Unfortunate Events on your bookshelf back there, are you as excited for the netflix original series of the books as I am! :)
I wish we have open book exams..law school here in the Phippines is so tough..we have to memorize a lot as much as possible because open is not allowed during exams.
I find the books very helpful, because I do the readings before class. I also have many courses that require discussion, so I have to have done the readings ahead of time. And I have never used a sparkchart in law school!
Thank you! And I actually don't work while in law school, but I did in my undergrad. It just takes really good time management skills and discipline. Hope this helps :)
My law school specifically doesn't have open book or open note for the reason that the bar exam is not open book. Do you go to law school in the US? Maybe this is my jurisdiction specific?
....and!....umm?!.... "Will"?!....I don't remember...since "Childhood"....that I act-u-ally did by "will"!.....I was forced by my "Father" to go to "School"!....What "will"?!....I don't know!....?!....😃
I'm not taking contracts this year - I had it last year. My exam was closed book, so I had to memorize the case names, facts and the principle of each case. I made short case briefs on each case and just read them over and over again. Hope this helps!
