Love your videos Alec always straight forward easy to understand. I recently purchased the UBI launcher here in Canada where it was invented. The purchase will help my wife enjoy bowls again, was ready to give it up, but now i think with this equipment she will be able to go on. Thanks again for your instructions.
Hi Alec. What a great idea. I'm hoping to take up bowls this coming spring and thankfully I will be okay to bend and bowl okay but what a brilliant aid for anyone who does have a problem and will enable them to keep on playing. Can able bodied players use these? The only reason that I ask, is that I'm imaging that the technique may be easier to repeat, than simply using the arm. I am a complete beginner who has played twice, so if this question is silly then I do apologise. Also another question - are you committed to using the same set of bowls for a match? I wondered what may stop someone trying to use a Lignoid to get some extra curve when they may need to delicately slot a ball in between two of the opponents. :) Thanks Barry
Hi Jeremy, I think all aids like the pusher are useful for people who cannot bowl using a normal stance, but I would not recommend it otherwise. I found it tricky to use, although if you cannot bend low enough then this is ideal. Question two - No, you must use bowls from the same set. You are not the first to ask this, so it is not a silly question. A nice idea, but not allowed. :) Thanks for the questions. Good luck with your bowling.
Hi Alec was just wondering started playing short Matt bowls at the start of the year and now thinking of having ago at out door just want to know what is easier and any different 👍🏻
Hi Christopher, I have never played short mat, but it is quite different. SM is on carpet, which is much faster than on grass. You will need a lot more effort to get the bowl down the green. Not as much green needed either. No blocks of wood in the way mind, so easier in a way. I know people who play both and they all say it takes several games to adjust to weight and line, but are both enjoyable. 👍

No, I have not bowled in the US. I did come across a bowling green when in LA some years ago, but we were on our way somewhere so did not stay long. I wish I could have had a game. It looked very fast. :)
Why doesn't this video show the full distance of the bowl till it stops? Just a slight angle variance and you could still see the presenter. How does it roll on a SLOW green? More energy needs to be applied and that could be a disadvantage to a bowler who has a problem reaching. It is however a good alternative to the arm.
Yes Larry, I could have angled the camera better. I certainly don’t think I will get cameraman of the year award. 😬 Yes, more energy on a slow green, but I did find length is doable and probably easier to reach full length jacks for anyone who normally struggles. I have yet to try the arm, but I know a few players who use them and they reach long jacks with no problems at all, so maybe easier with the arm. I must try one out.
