The Bishnoi community is a religious group in India, founded by Guru Jambheshwar (also known as Jambhoji) in the 15th century. The Bishnoi are primarily concentrated in the western and northern parts of India, particularly in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. Their religious beliefs emphasize environmental protection, particularly the conservation of trees and wildlife, which are considered sacred.
Key Beliefs of the Bishnoi Community:
Conservation of Nature: Bishnois are known for their devotion to environmental and wildlife preservation. One of their fundamental tenets is the protection of animals, particularly endangered species like blackbucks and other wildlife found in the regions where they live.
Non-Violence (Ahimsa): Bishnois are deeply committed to non-violence and believe in living in harmony with nature. They are vegetarians and refrain from killing animals.

Protection of Wildlife: The community has a long history of defending wildlife, often at great personal risk. The famous Khejarli Massacre in 1730 is a notable example where Bishnoi men and women sacrificed their lives to prevent trees from being cut down.
Connection to Salman Khan:
Salman Khan, a Bollywood superstar, was involved in a poaching incident in 1998 during the filming of the movie "Hum Saath-Saath Hain." He was accused of illegally hunting blackbucks, an endangered species, in the forests near Jodhpur, Rajasthan, which is a region inhabited by the Bishnoi community.
The blackbuck holds a significant place in Bishnoi culture and religion, and the killing of this animal was seen as a grave offense by the community. This incident sparked outrage among the Bishnois, who filed a case against Khan.
Why Some Bishnois Want to Kill Salman Khan:
While not all Bishnois advocate violence, some members of the community have been vocal in their anger and outrage over the killing of the blackbucks. The blackbuck is sacred to them, and Salman Khan’s actions were perceived as a severe violation of their religious and cultural values.
The poaching case led to legal battles spanning over two decades, and Khan was eventually convicted in 2018 and sentenced to five years in prison. However, he was released on bail shortly after the conviction, which further fueled frustration among certain sections of the Bishnoi community, feeling that justice had not been adequately served.
The desire to harm or kill Salman Khan likely stems from a deep sense of betrayal and anger over the perceived disrespect for their religious principles and the killing of a sacred animal.
However, it is important to note that such extreme sentiments do not represent the entire Bishnoi community. Most members of the Bishnoi community continue to seek justice through legal means rather than advocating for violence.
