Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence have been writing songs and listening to countless Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Aretha Franklin records in their family's New York City apartment since they were little kids. After years of playing together, they officially created Lawrence, an eight-piece soul-pop band comprised of musician friends from childhood and college. The band has since gained a devoted following for its high-energy, keyboard-driven sound, which features tight, energetic horns, explosive lead vocals, and fully-live arrangements.

Can't make it out either. It looks like a standard five string Fender P/J bass but the head stock is different, and if there's any writing on it, it's too faded to make out.

This band is the REAL DEAL! Love the vocals of both Clyde and Gracie and the band are all pro players!! Clyde rocks the keys, and Gracie has the most incredible range and originality. I'm an old guy, but these kids give me HOPE!! They have old souls and have definitely done their homework when it comes to the classic soul and pop sound that they make their own. GREAT BAND and thanks to JITV for this opportunity to see more of them!!!

A bunch of years ago I saw a band called Lake Street Dive for the first time. Like many people I was BLOWN AWAY! I get exactly the same vibe with this band. Seriously impressive production, arrangement, and presentation. Original, creative, TALENTED, and y'all have a very distinct identity. You're different...and you bring something to the table that wasn't there before you arrived. You make your own space, you're fun, and you're interesting. Please be successful...cause I want to see more of you.

speechless Everything there is to write about this band was already written in the last three comments. But no, I can think of one thing that scares me: might they burn out too quickly. Musically, the vibes, turns in the song...etc how can you do this over and over again without repeating yourself? How can you come up with more ideas of similar quality? How can you keep surprising us audience or in this case me?! Maybe this is going to be the surprise. I will try to follow your footsteps to see where this is going in 2,3,5 years time. Of course you never know what twists and turns life might take. But let me say this: the music world will miss you both. I rarely heard a list of songs like this here where each and every one of them stands for itself and not one falls of the cliff. As complex as they are for Soul tracks (stops, breaks, fillws...etc) there is always a texture and theme to it. Talent must run in your family somehow... Many thanks for giving us this beatiful music.
