Apart from two or three tracks, it actually sounds more like a Sten liveset than a Lawrence one (Sten is his other moniker for those who didn't know). A bit less deep, more traditional club way to craft the tracks, less storytelling, more direct energy. I prefer his haunting and mysterious Lawrence works but it's still a very good set. : ) Lawrence livesets are actually rare to find on the internet. I have one from 2004, which sounds absolutely fantastic. I should upload it on youtube soon. edit : Finally, no need to upload it on youtube, as the original host of this liveset from 2004 (betalounge) is still sharing this set online. Give them some views. Here it is : betalounge.com/2004/02/07/lawrence-live/ A magnificent piece. A true work of poet, of sorcerer, of storyteller. It's like making magic potions with sounds, like re-writing some classic books with musical ink. In the 2010s, Lawrence quite gave up his anxious "gothic" synths and stoytelling clicky programming for a more traditional looped club sound design and structure. It's still deep and excellent music, but this level of good-taste, this perfect synthesis of timeless atmosphere and meticulous reduced groove he used to achieve in the 2000s is unbeatable and ages especially well. This liveset is for me the proof. Enjoy!
