In the military we kept all kinds of stuff in boxes of secret documents. When the general would ask for papers we would just say, "We are really busy." and he would give us another 8 months. Then we would throw another half drunk Coke in one of the boxes and use the toilet we kept by the documents.

The Republicans want to whitewash (no pun intended) history. So, students will learn only some facts that were mentioned. Immigrant? Probably, but not consigned to public housing. Public schools? Yes, but not segegated Howard? Yes, but not that it's an HBCU. Judge? Yes, but not first. The Republicans are insidious. They don't want anyone to know about slavery, discrimination, racism. They don't want blacks to see their endemic poverty as the legacy of slavery and as victims of systemic, legal apartied. They want people to see the misery in their lives as their own fault, and they will use examples of a black judge not as proof of hurdles overcome, but as what any American can achieve when they work hard, with the implication that if one lives in a shanty and has a terrible job it's their own fault. Words like, "look, you could have been a judge, instead you're bum", will spoken at next year's RNC convention.

Indeed. We happen to be living in a moment where we could possibly shift things back in that direction. I was so high on Justice after reading the indictment, but also realized it was *not easy* to refrain from gloating. I want to stay mindful that a lot of people are potentially going to be extremely angry when they learn how easily they were conned. The problem seems to go back to the early 1970s. Maddow detailed the relationship between cheeto and Nixon. Cheeto saw that Nixon got away with crimes, and so he sucked up to Nixon every chance he could get. He's evidently, I infer, been scheming for presidential power since that time. The handling of Agnew's crimes, also without an indictment but simply an agreement not to run for the presidency seemingly also showed that the USA did not have the spine to prosecute the most powerful men. Cheeto wanted to be one of those men. Now he is. I hope the course of justice in the USA can now be stepped up, because in some ways the US is the most important or at least influential country in the world. We don't need more fascism. We need democracy and justice - we being people in general.

I'm not waiting that long - I'm celebrating at the first "Guilty" finding. Trump might find a way to delay his rightful incarceration, through appeals or other legal (or not-so-legal) maneuvers, long enough that he dies before the sentence starts. He's not a well person - probably has heart disease and high blood pressure related to his obesity. And delay, delay, delay is his first choice of courtroom tactic. So, I think the grim reaper will get him before a prison guard does.

You are right that he does not comprehend it, but I do not think that it is lack of intelligence driving it directly. It is more a lack of consequences in his life. Imagine being born into the life he had, where every "success" was simply in his mind because of how the people around him were required to treat him. The Art of the Deal was really the art of agreeing to a contract and then not paying it. Knowing his life-long history of scheming to steal and defraud, he INTENTIONALLY mixed his personal hoarded news clippings and fake "Time" covers in order to make the claim that he just needed more time to sort things out before sending NARA what they wanted. Two things wrong with that plan, Donnie. 1) INTENTIONALLY mixing personal and private documents 2ith items pertaining to national security is a crime, whichmyou are nowmcharged with. 2) the PRA very clearly states NARA takes over EVERYTHING to a provided secure storage facility the MINUTE you leave office, and YOU go to THEM to sort out anything you deem "personal" AT THAT FACILITY, with their supervision.
