Lawson, Paul B-17 Tail Gunner and Waist Gunner 

Paul Lawson was born in Kentucky. At the age of 18, Lawson volunteered to join the Army Air Corps. Lawson's first stop on his tour of training was basic training in Amarillo, Texas. Next was a stop in Kingman, Arizona for gunnery school. After that he was sent to Drew Field, Florida to be assigned to a crew and begin phase training. He and his crew were sent to the air base at Framlingham, England to fly with the 390th Bomb Group. He switched between the tail gunner and waist gunner positions. Lawson completed 35 combat missions. During his interview, Lawson describes shooting down two German fighters (ME 109).
