Hi! My name is Loretta, a girl from the U.S. who moved to Japan! I'm here on the MEXT scholarship program as a graduate student, studying to get a Masters in Business Administration. Here are some answers to common questions:
1. Do I Speak Japanese? Yep! I was taught formally in High School and have been speaking now for over 15 years.
2. What are you studying? I'm a recent grad of Yokohama National University's "Masters of Business Administration" Program
3. How old are you?: Year of the dragon. :D The math is up to you.
4. How did you get into Japanese school?: tinyurl.com/yb8...
5. What camera equipment do you use?: I film my videos with a Canon 60D using a 30mm Sigma Art Lens and I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 10 (with some help from photoshop). Additional cameras include GoPro Hero 7 Black and DJI Majic Air

Is there an age limit for the student visa? Obtaining your bachelor's at 31, would it be possible to complete two more years in Japan if you meet the rest of the criteria?
@kemushichan

In general Ive found that immigration tends to favor younger applicants (even in the HSP points system you can see how more points are awarded for younger age), but strict age limits depend on the school/program, not the visa itself.

The other requirements are also kind of out of reach... if you meet the highly skilled visa requirements I believe you can work any where in the world and can get paid 80.000 $ a year....

I love these very informative videos. You don't see a lot of people doing these types of videos. Such quality content! One video I also haven't seen on RU-vid is information about cellular data plans, phone plans, etc when you're planning on living in Japan for an extended time, such as a student etc. What if I bring my unlocked GSM phone with me to Japan as a student, what are my options? I see much more info for the traveler than for someone who is going to be living there. I completely understand why, but I thought I'd shoot you this comment if you found it interesting to make a whole video about? My friend tried to explain one method to me, and he completely lost me. So I'd be really interested in an informative video like such.

There's a new cell provider called Mobal. It's a prepaid voice/text/data service off the Softbank network. You can go month-to-month or have 3-6 month plans. I ordered & received the SIM card when I was in the U.S. and activated it at the airport. I've had it the past month I've been here. Anything else would be trickier to get since you'd probably need a gaijin card for the official service plans.

Hello! I'm a 24 year old Hungarian guy living in Tokyo, Japan. At the moment I'm on a working holiday visa (expires in 2,5 moths). Due to me not finishing my university studies I've heard getting a working visa would be very difficult.. especially during this epidemic. I heard that you can lengthen your stay by a maximum of 2 months. I have a C1 English language certificate also my Japanese level is around N2 (no certificate yet). Because of the current situation I feel like I'm running out of time... :( Do you think there's a way to lengthen my stay? I would really like to keep studying and immersing myself in the Japanese and language and culture. コメントを読んで頂いてありがとうございます。

Thank you for uploading this, very interesting information. However, only one note I would like to point out, try to not touch your hair or face so often and use your hands so much when talking, as I noticed your guest's eyes followed your hands. Only slightly distracting throughout the video. I noticed how your guest spoke and refrained from using her hands so much so maybe practising in front of the mirror would help. I too have been told not to do it so often so I know how difficult it is to stop, but I'm practising everyday. Thanks :D

You don't need to pay for the visa, you need a job and a company to sponsor you.

Plus, legal terms would be confusing even for a native speaker. When it comes to medical or legal topics, it's better to use your native tongue so there's no confusion. And on a side note, she probably didn't want to deal with those subtitles.

@@360marcel9 I couldn't imagine the pain of listening to legal terms in Japanese with all that jargon plus translating a 17 min video for subtitles from an asains language especially Japanese would be soo time consuming and tedious.

great video just don't time stamp the video by saying a year like you did "2020". because this is an education video that can be use forever. therefore, since now there is a time stamp some people might get confused on the oncoming years. over all thank you for giving a resource to your audience.

Thanks for watching! Actually, I left that 2020 in on purpose (and edited out most other references to timing). The laws change pretty frequently (there was a big shift for student visas last October and obviously new ramifications now due to Covid-19), and so while the general concept is timeless, I want people to know this video as of this year and video, then feel curious to do more research on their own from there.
