Is Lay The Draw and Backing 1-1 Correct Score a good insurance strategy to trade football with on Betfair? In this video I am going to take a deep look at a method that many have spoken about for years and I am going to see if there is any sort of mathematical edge in it.

--------- ABOUT THIS VIDEO ----------------
For over a decade now, football traders all over have looked at ways to improve the original lay the draw strategy. For many, the problem being that the dreaded scenario of a 0-0 coming up can cause them to take a loss.
But in this video I show you that the 1-1 scoreline is actually more frequent than 0-0 and perhaps that is the scoreline we should be worrying about. And many have wondered if backing the 1-1 scoreline in the Correct Score market could offer some insurance against that possibility and make it easier to profit.
However, the way that the majority have been approaching using 1-1 insurance is all wrong.
I will show you the best way to approach this way of trading and a lot more.
------ HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT -------
1 - Step by Step Instruction to show you the TYPICAL way to use Lay The Draw + 1-1
2 - A real life demonstration of this on a match between Blackburn and Newcastle that highlighted the BIG flaws of this approach.
3 - How to use this strategy at a more opportune time of the match
4 - Step by Step Instruction of the BEST way to use this method
5 - Live Demonstration of the method recorded on Betfair (Watch out for the crazy Brighton-West Ham trade)
6 - I answer the question of “Is there an EDGE?”.
7- I then show you how to calculate the potential edge on future opportunities so you can spot these for yourself.

Lay the draw half time at 55 mins, back the 1-1 correct score insurance at 70 mins if it's still goalless. If a goal scored before 70 mins cash out for profit and exit the market if a goal scored after 70 mins you will have insurance to cover for the 1-1 score. The back price for the 1-1 correct score drifts up when the game remains goalless so you pay small.

if it is goalless for 55 mins over 0.5 will give you a good odd. Then why you have to do this?

Very risky back 1-1 at 70 minutes and lose more money. Feels like 0-0 game if no goals scored even when 25minutes 2nd half gone.

I have seen the LTD in second half if 0-0, 1-1. Then back the next draw. Usually works best with approx 20 mins to go. A late goal which happens frequently, locks in a massive profit.

I am trying out the following stake skew of 70-30 when doing LD + 1-1. 70% LD 30% 1-1. If half time 1-1 then exit. Requirements for entry is a clear favorite that has strong scoring agaist a side that conceeds, be that at home or away. Favourit odds should be 1.5 or less 😊. So expecting return of 20-30% profit.

if you overload the 1-1 at start then you can lay some of the 1-1 after the first goal to give you higher percentage after first goal . i have refined this trade to work with low scoring matches. works better than you think
@footballratingsspreadsheet1372
Great vid as always.... I have a suggestion that I have been toying with lately... Wait until a 0-0 game gets to 55-65 mins (60 is best) and lay the draw (price at this point of the game is around 2.00 or lower, don't go in above 2.00 imo)… then back the over 1.5 goals market (price usually around 4.80+) with the amount of liability of the LTD plus about 15-30 extra quid profit... obviously you need to do your homework on best games to do this on as only 1 goal either way will produce a profit. With odds of 2.00 for LTD and 5.00 for o1.5, here are the possible returns and stakes... LTD 100 @ 2.00 (liability of 100) and back o1.5 with 30 @ 5.00 … if game ends 0-0 you lose 130... 1-0 either way, you win 95 after comms on LTD and lose 30 on o1.5 (+65)… 1-1 or any other score draw you lose 100 on LTD and win 114 on o1.5 (+14)… any win for either side except 1-0, 0-1 you win 95 from LTD and 114 from o1.5 market (+209 after comms)… Just a thought... so 1 goal in the game and you win something and the total liability is lower too.

Something to think about, at 0-2, an option could be to back the losing team at huge odds for a few quid, if they look likely to score next. If the goal comes, it can be laid off to cover some of the lost insurance money, as well as taking the profit on the LTD. Obviously playing around with the stakes backing the losing team will produce different amounts of cover. The downside is if the losing team don't score, you are losing a bit more of your green on the LTD.

do you have a statistic about a huge amount of games? Can you talk about this? Do you just watching for 1:1, 0:0 half time with a good odds for lay no draw or do you have a pre match filter for the game selection?

Hello Ben, how are you? Tks for this strategy, looks really good. I applied twice today and I had 2 greens, starting in the 2° half. But I've seen some statistics of almost done Championships, like Premier League, and from 101 matches ended 0x0 in the 1°half, 21 ended 0x0 in the 2°half (20.8%). More than 8% considering the match from beginning. How can I choose better the games in the 2°half 0x0, in the way that more than 90% we have at least 1 goal? Thank you for the awesome class and best regards, Fernando.

I've been watching your videos for a good few months now, I honestly think they are the best trading videos out there as you actually show live demonstrations of what you are doing - other traders videos I've seen on youtube tend to talk vaguely about mindsets and stuff like mentality without actually showing what the hell they are doing to make their money! Anyway this LTD strategy is something that got me really interested in trading, I've been trying to work through a bunch of different configurations of it, from using BTTS as insurance to playing around with betting on the 0-0 at the start of the game, then providing over 0.5 first half goals insurance and only then doing the LTD in the second half. Also trying to play around with TonyBet's 0-0 insurance offer, although sadly the max refund they give is £20. You can lock in a couple quid with that though with some overlaying the strongest team and such. Most of my attempts have misses rather than hits, but I'm getting a lot better at getting a general feel for games. Such as the ones you demonstrated on your videos, with 2 goals being often scored in
@SportsTradingLife

Thanks for the comment only just saw your message. DNB definitely can be a good market, I definitely intend on exploring that market a bit more in certain situations. One way of calculating the edge is seeing what other prices would give you for a similar outcome. In this case, we need a goal and just backing Over 0.5 Goals can offer less profit than this method so this method does have an edge in certain situations.

I think backing 0.5 is safer. what is the percentage you lose or exit from the market when a 2-1 or 1-2 hits after laying the draw and backing 1-1 though? Wouldn't that percentage be the reason there's a 26% increase in profit because it's >26% less likely to win in the long run? 0-0 total loss. 1-1 profit = £0 2-1 profit = a little, minus backing 1-1 and exit the market. 2-2 £100 loss minimum. 2-0 or 0-2 full £100 - 1-1 backing stake. backing over 0.5G 0-0 total loss 1-0 0-1 1-1 2-1 1-2 2-2 all win..... Seems like it's negligible for 26% more profit IMO

@Fifa15BrosXD21 5 лет назад
V3GAS4CE is that along with laying the draw aswell?
@V3GAS4CE
@V3GAS4CE 5 лет назад
@@Fifa15BrosXD21 yeah, because you lay the draw but hedge with backing 1-1. Ideally you'd want to get into the market at 1-0 or 0-1 and hope an equaliser happens because your bet for backing 1-1 would hit, then you could exit market for profit and a goal for you to win the "lay the draw" too. With over 0.5 you don't need any of that, just one team to score....I'm not a trader though, I'm a straight up bettor. It's just my opinion.
@dolphinmania2010

It's did for thought but also you need to consider the type of trading character. +0.5 is a lot safer and there is more "certainty". It would suit the newbie building a bank but those that like it more aggressive would choose CS. Either way is not without risk, sadly.

So if I bet a bigger amount the profit could be smaller. And If I bet the amount you showed (draw's liability / 1-1 odd) I will lose money if the match will end 1-1. Isn't it?

@Ronny Silvio yes you dont make money If you use 100 % of the money that you got in because soon or later you will loose. If you want make money whit this you only can go max 2. Tô 5 % of the total money that you have. Lets imagine if you have 1000 pds. You only can use max 2 % means 2 % If you want make money in long term thats the only way

How about laying one team? Is it profitable in long run? I mean depends on scenario and prices lay the fav or lay the underdogs. For example yesterday I had barnet vs brentford where I was thinking about laying brentford at 1.33. Although I didn't play that match till 2nd half. But I did lay brendford twice in 2nd half at 3.1 and 1.14 after they took lead. Yeah I know it was little bad timing to lay at 2-1 But I did miss opportunity at 0-1 as I was busy earlier. Maybe I just got lucky with 3-3 in the end, but do you think this works in long run?

Because you'd backing low and laying high eg back draw at 3.5 for 40 to make 100. Lay 0-0 at 12 to cover your 40 you'd be risking 440+ so 0-0 result means you lose 340. And the markets won't work in your favour to reduce this risk

Back again, 29:39 "we're not gonna lock it in that doesn't make any sense" after suffering 2 losses that could have been prevented lol. Sorry to critique so much its just the type of people watching this are probably looking to make money and don't have lots to play around with. Could have easily cashed out for profit then hoped for the 1-1 finish. Just because you have the 1-1 covered doesn't mean you want to leave it and see how it goes lol. The way I see it is you should at this point be willing to take the loss on your back bet to secure the profit on the lay bet!!! Because if the game ends 1-1 yes you will still make profit but you haven't extracted the most you can out of the market. If the game ends 1-0 then you might think that's best case but it isn't! If you cash out for profit there and leave the game to then finish. If it did end 1-1 then you can make SO much more because you're then not risking ANYTHING its just eating into your profit margin which isn't a bad thing

@@SportsTradingLife I agree with @Britkid99 in the Wolves example. I'd have cashed out when Palace went 1-0 up for £65 profit and then cashed out of the 1-1 for -£1. Giving you a total profit of £64. Now you say there is 'no point backing 1-1 in the first place' if you do this, but I disagree. If the favourites score and make it 1-0, then you leave it running with the 1-1 as insurance on the rare chance that the underdogs equalise. However in the Wolves / Palace example, Wolves were favourites and chasing the game, so I'd personally not have risked it going the distance. That guaranteed £64 could've turned into a couple of quid has Wolves scored. Albeit in the end it worked out and your judgement was spot on. Decent job £82 in profit. But I think it was a big risk for an extra £18 to risk losing the guaranteed £64 you had when the underdogs scored first. Just my 2 pennies, but my trading style is probably more on the cautious side.
@Nick-cp2jh
@Nick-cp2jh 4 года назад
@@ilariaperani3867 I don't think OP is suggesting 'always' cashing out at 1-0. However, in the Wolves example it was the underdog who scored, so at that point leaving it running meant 1-1 was actually a likely result. I'd have cashed out then as well. But his judgement did prove correct on this one.

If a match stays 0-0 until half time, the odds of a 0-0 usually go down to about 4 decimal. 1/4= 0.25 x 100 = 25%. It also holds true on results data for the most part on an average match.I think this is correct, i am no expert.!@@peterbergman2131

ahh yes but if you think about it, if a match is still 0-0 at half time, that might suggest some teams are struggling to create goals. this of course isnt always the case. sometimes teams hold back in the first half or whatever. Don't get me wrong this is great content and I know I'm late on the trend lol but 24 minutes into the video I've had to pause to comment. Brighton have brought the game to 2-0 in their favour. You have a cash out of 74 and you've already lost your 24 on the correct score market. So you're sitting pretty with £50 profit and you're insisting the only option you have is to let the game play out and here's where I'd disagree. The draw odds are very high at odds of 10. Now I don't know yet how this game played out but you could easily trade out for your profit and then back that draw just in case the worst was to happen which then becomes the best. If you put 10 on that you're looking at a £40 profit margin minimum no matter the outcome at that point. But if the game went on and west ham started to bring it back you would have great potential to make a lot more money

Totally disagree with your philosophy here, and refer you to a quote you made on another video from Warren Buffet on "Greed". Why you propose backing 1-1 after laying 0-0 also baffles me as once a goal has been scored you are instantly in profit, "Cash Out" and move on, bank the profits. You look to maximise profits but as one demo showed maximising losses is definately on the cards.

Lay THE DRAW STRATEGIES You LAY the draw and BACK at a higher price after a goal is scored. Beware that if the dog scores first the price may not move at all in your favour. It is essential in this trade to have a predetermined exit point either for taking a profit or accepting loss. It is an extremely good strategy to practice the key element in trading: Namely, taking the profit when the opportunity presents itself AND accepting a loss if the trade is not going in your favour. Selection criteria: With an average odds of 3.6 on the draw in most games, your liabilities are high. Choose match selection carefully! Staking: Personal choice LAY DRAW @ 3.6 £50 After first goal BACK @ 5.4 £33.... Hedged profit = £17 0-0 after 65mins BACK DRAW @ 2.0 £80 Hedged loss = £30
