"focus less on the engineering" is the best tip. sooo many producers overe overemphasize technical detaiest. nice vid!

This is the tutorial I wish came out during the rise of ambient DnB, around the "Sewerslvt" era. This is much more involved and by extension, more interesting than merely using a pad from the Jungle Jungle pack

Thank you, still amazed at the timing of all of this, like life itself is one big giant algorithme. What you do suddenly pops up everywhere, not only with ambient jungle / int.dnb but even the tutorials about it. Its a confirmation for me to keep pursuing. I found my genre of music (creation wise), this is it. Im not good technically unfortunately, maybe even below average since i nvr had a mentor or money to finance my dreams, but im having fun creating it at least, and proud if i can at least make something ambient. These videos will surely help allot😊
@Thought-Forms
@Thought-Forms 6 месяцев назад
Thanks kensley! It's a great feeling to find a sound / genre and make the decision to pursue that specific sound fully, and give it your all. With that focus you can then dive twice as deep. Keep at it & have fun during the process, you will constantly improve the more you put into it

Also thanks for making a point about the progression of the arrangement. I've heard far too many people have great ideas fall flat over the course of a tune because they couldn't build momentum out beyond a core pad.

Thank you for another great tutorial. A lot of the comments already touched on this, but your stuff is really right up my alley for what I'm trying to make these days. My current track isn't working because the pad is exactly that "sustained note" kind of thing with no call and response at all. I am going to try this technique and see if it improves things (spoiler: I think it will :D) Also, to your point about using your ears - I've been reading a lot about the early days of this music (Renegade Snares is a great book) and the spirit of these tunes is definitely about just going for vibes and doing what felt right. A lot of the great tracks were just people trying to make something they vibed with and I'm certain they were not doing any fancy engineering, just creating a vibe.
@Thought-Forms
@Thought-Forms 6 месяцев назад

These sounds remind me very much of Final Fantasy X and the likes of that same period. Would be cool to see you dwelve into those soundscapes. Another artist I'd love to see here is Dallas Superstars and JS16 (Darude, Bomfunk Mc's, Mighty 44) and especially their soft synths.

This is a great tutorial. It would be helpful if you could steer us towards some of the Korg Triton presets used and also mention some of the chords you've used. You said a couple of times that you were triggering Triton presets as a single note, yet they sound decidedly like chords to my ear, unless the chord is already baked into the preset which is often the case. A little more context would be helpful here.

Hi, thanks for the video. I'm sorry for being dim, but why are you sampling your Korgs rather than just using multiple instances of them? I mean, assuming you have the Korg Collection.
@Thought-Forms

All good! I have a physical Korg Triton I was sampling from because it has the EXB-MOSS card (which the VST doesnt have) as well as a bunch of presets in sysex format, which the VST cant ingest either
