Try to keep your track risers at no more than 2% and keep any elevation change away from track corners. Ask me how I know.

Thanks Gary. Not sure if I have enough distance on any one wall for a 2%, so I will at least have a wide bend if it's still on the incline.

Ah Windex, what can’t it do? I like your sense of humour. Layout looks great so far. That crack in the fascia would drive me nuts. Hopefully once it’s painted no one will notice. As long as you paint it the correct shade of coffee. Lol. Can’t wait to see more progress. -Mark

I will probably replace it, but for now it will do it's job.

looking good Dave! Very well done cutting the foam. regardless of the trouble with the masonite, the layout looks great so far :)

Thanks. The foam surprised me, expected a blizzard.

Looking great , curious what radius you will using for your track, a great start , more work to come

I did some experimenting today with the 6 axle conrail loco. It does not like 18 radius, so I need to go bigger, which means a slight change of plans.

I am thinking 26 and 28 but use 20/22 if just a switcher steel mill

Hi. Did you screw into the foam board for the trim?
@ScottRails
@ScottRails Год назад
The trim is screwed into the wooden edges of the beams. I will be changing the fascia at some point, so it's not attached to the foam at all.

Cutting the foam with a jigsaw is a good trick. What is the foam surface like after you’ve peeled the plastic and foil off - good enough for track?

The surface is surprisingly porous if you want to pair it. Pretty flat and smooth.
