I've been following Layne for over a decade or more. One of my favourites in this space. His teachings, among others, were pivotal in helping me lose 100 pounds, fix two herniated discs, and break a powerlifting record for deadlifting 475 pounds at 48 years old. Great show, as usual, guys! Thank you for everything you put out.
Hey guys. I'm loving all your content. As a 49 year old woman you're knowledge and guests have motivated me to lift heavy and balance my life for optimum health and fitness as I age. I can't thank you enough!!
Can I just say a massive HALLEFREAKINLUJAH for this conversation!! I love, love, love Layne Norton! What he said about people pleasing actually really speaks to me. I was bullied as a child and actually have never associated that with my people pleasing behaviour. I, like Layne, twist and contort myself, when I know in my heart of hearts that I need to say no. This awareness is invaluable. Thank you Mind Pump for being real and defending the honour of your average Joe; for acknowledging the difficulties involved in transforming your health. We need more of these discussions in fitness and in the world. Mike drop🎤
Woah! This was so unexpected! A podcast with Layne Norton! Awesome!!!! Any person on the earth who gets a chance to have a 1 on 1 Fitness training with any of you guys would be so damn lucky! Thanks for sharing this podcast..
I’ve lost 32 lbs thanks to all of you and your valuable information and how to go about doing things the right way especially with nutrition. I struggled a lot with that and thanks y’all I’m back in the game! 💪🏻
I’m new to the podcast- Keto 4 years - gym rat been lifting since 2015- went vegan for six months to reverse high blood pressure - gained all the weight back 😮- just started reverse dieting , going to focus on weight training, I’m 55 and menopausal… BUT I know processes work and I will recover from this. I’ve been binge watching you guys … I like what I hear!
I think I speak for many of us who regret not having found your podcast before. Listening to you guys I have learned so much about how to improve my life in many aspects besides physically. All the guidance one can take from your conversations are tools that I am learning to implement. I did one year of mostly cardio and conditioning training but once I found you last December I started implementing weight lifting and in just 4 months I can say I love the change. So this in combination with all your tips have greatly changed my journey. Thank you guys and I hope to get my hand on one of your programs to keep improving.
Lost 60 pounds in the last 9 months. Started a recomp with the techniques from your programs, and have continued to get smaller, stronger, and more muscular. Former well trained person and my body is waking up again from its long slumber. It’s great what you are putting put into the world.
I only started my fitness journey 3 months ago and the only person i listened to and followed was Sall, All his advises make sense. Eat more protein move more Build muscles I am on a new health journey and already seeing results. Thanks MIND PUMP
I hate that Layne gets hated on so much. He has provided so much quality information for so long. He’s continuously providing and educating. So many people don’t even know that he’s been doing this shit with every single fad diet/exercise over a decade. I’m forever thankful for the all of the information that you all constantly put out. Layne and MindPump still EXTREMELY underrated.
It's because he's wrong about a lot of things, just like everybody else. He recently made a video of the benefits of eating ice cream for your health. What kind of ignoramus do you have to be to recommend ice cream as a health food?
@ClassicJukeboxBand The only example I could think of in that instance is maybe a big maybe but maybe I it's an organic ice cream with lower sugar and only done occasionally lol.
Raw Advice like this is what we ALL need to hear no fads, get rich quick, quick diet sort of trainings! Straight from the studies and experience of all the professionals combined!
I love this episode. You just can't find a fitness/mindset/Nutrition podcast that speaks about so much and keeps everything so relatable to people. Definitely learn so much from you guys! 🙏🏼🔥
So true about hunger... Learned from one source that there are three types of hunger. The challenge is educating yourself so you know which one you're experiencing in the moment so you can deal with it appropriately.
This is such an incredible episode, the way you guys filter information subjectively in the industry has helped me so much in my approach to learning at a Personal Trainer. I appreciate what you guys do so much, you help so many people like myself! ❤
Love this podcast! I love the science and I am taking notes as I listen!! I have so much appreciation for the integrity of this show. I can’t get enough. 💕
I think if and only if any thing is missing from you podcast to make it the perfect guide for everyone to get his fitness life on track is adding Layne to the team Thanks guys for all the effort and priceless free information .. keep it up
I’ve said this many times before but y’all have helped me tremendously with my goals and weight loss etc. and have Layne Norton on the show whom I follow very closely and listen to his advice. Y’all are the best and a god send
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 guys you scored!!! Three years ago, I used to see Layne Norton videos on my feed, I used to avoid them because I thought he was so aggressive!?but thank you so much this year I turned into a fan 🎉he open my eyes to all the bullshit that I’ve been invested in. Thank you guys for having him today
Loved this episode. It was on Layne’s podcast I heard about MindPump when Sal was on there and now I am a regular MindPump evangelist. Resilience is the common thread between you.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos! Your videos for personal trainers and for people who are thinking about becoming personal trainers have really helped me realize that this field is right for me. I’ve been in the healthcare field for many years but now I’m in the process of switching. Currently earning my degree in kinesiology/exercise science!
Dangnabbit, Guys…this one brought me to tears not once, but twice! We all know you’re good people, but when Layne Norton talks about you the way he did, it gets me right in the feels! 💛💛
Insurance only pays for Ozempic if the patient can prove they are diabetic. After a short period, insurance companies stop paying for it for weight loss unless one finds their way around the system.
I used to go to the same gym as Lane back in 2010-2011, powerhouse gym in Tampa. He gave me some deadlift and squat pointers back in the day. Mad cool dude.
So good! That thing about subjective response to the same discomfort- pain, hunger… through therapy and coaching I’m learning that I have a strong aversion to discomfort related to perfectionism issues (if something feels bad something is wrong, if something is wrong I’m not perfect, panic!)… I’m working on retraining my brain to think of hunger as not an emergency and learn that discomfort is normal, just a signal from the body to bring awareness to something. Even slight hunger used to feel like an emergency that needed to be addressed immediately 🙈
I’ve never watched this before somehow came across the show after watching Chalene for the first time. If you have more people like her on, I will watch. I mean it’s nice to watch real people sharing and failures and successes that actually care about people. I’m a fan.
Great episode with one of the best in the industry besides you guys. The end made me tear up when Lane talked about his daughter. I would love to have my daughters see me accomplish something hard. Which is why I continue to push myself at the gym.
This was probably my favorite interview of the year so far. I hope you guys get him back sooner, rather than later... you guys can discuss your upcoming MAPS Bodyweight program 😝
Glad to see Layne make the nuanced point about LBM vs. muscle mass. A lot of these studies lack precision in language and people will infer all kinds of things that just aren't there. Regarding CICO, we also have to keep in mind that most people are going to count their protein calories towards their daily intake but there's no saying what percentage of these calories are going to go towards energy balance. Protein has potential energy but that doesn't mean it's all going to be converted to energy and be used or stored.
Thank you guys so much. I found your channel after starting TRT. Now I listen to all your videos while I workout everyday, really appreciate the knowledge and humor.
The knowledge I gain from listening to you guys about fitness and health is invaluable and trustworthy, which is why you're the only podcast I listen to regularly! Keep up the great work!
Love layne and the show. Bought the anabolic program, and about halfway through it really seeing great results. would love that Asthetics program for when I get done with this one ❤
Here to comment that I love Layne’s rants and the content this podcast provides. I have multiple MAPS programs and Aesthetic is probably the only one I don’t have.
I can definitely attest to the artificial sweeteners working for weight loss to at least some extent. Lost about 80 lbs in 9 months because of using them and other lifestyle changes as well obviously. Just love how much information you can squeeze out from this podcast if you’re open to just listen
Haha. He has a gift of making excellent conversation. He’s very engaging and full of interesting information. The MP guys did a great job interviewing him while letting him have the floor.
I have been following these guys advice for 11 months now. Eating meat protein and lifting weights. I haven’t lost much fat weight yet but I look so much better already. My T-shirts have got so small in the shoulders and arms I have had to buy larger shirts. So far I have lost 10 pounds over all. Seems impossible but I am sticking to it and now paying more attention to my food. 59 years 6’1” today 265 pounds
6 months sober- love your show. Not sure if I’m too late to be in the running for the free program! If not I’ll prob check it out anyway…. Thanks for the content fellas
I've been consuming artificial sweeteners for years without any problems until all of a sudden succralose started causing diarrhea every single time... Just because you can tolerate these sweeteners for a period of time it doesn't mean they are harmless...
