Another injury walk but I NEEDED to get some high fell action and so it dawned on me that there's a much easier way to get up there than walking. The net result of this walk: 1 x VERY HAPPY bloke, 1 x VERY HAPPY little white dog!
Thank you so much for watching.

I was in hospital for 7 weeks last year. Was very nearly a goner. Feeling very sorry for myself that I could no longer hike. Nor would I be able to hike again for a while. Your little movies kept me both occupied and motivated to get back to full health, and get back out there. Which I did do this year. Hope you know your appreciated Mr.

@yggfdfvbgft I went from 74kg to 46kg. Couldn’t even stand up. and that was the good news. All the causes I won’t detail either. But even though I have a bunch of complications now for life, I’m also fitter than ever, because I was forced to work hard at my fitness. Sometimes good can come from a really crappy situation. So stay strong and get well soon. 🖖

Speaking from a couple who have knackered knees and hips, we need more accessible walks for us less able. Absolutely love this!!! Stunning views, beautiful Finnius, Herdies... and ultimately doable. All your walks are great, from an epic fellside camp or a village wander. Great to hear of your plans .... even the rollerblading!!!😉 and Yes please... Via Ferrata!! 👍👍

I found you by way of the Scotland road trip, to places I adore and that feed my soul when I get up there. I stayed because the beautiful videos, your wafflage and the little white dog have brought me SUCH peace and calm as I indulge in ploughing through the Black Crag back catalogue. I never want it to end. I am hugely appreciative of your photography, your enthusiasm, your genuine warmth and humour together with earnest discussion of the attributes of essential chocolate bars. I am so delighted to hear you vow to continue to make videos, you are such a talented guy. I couldn't be more proud to sign up with Patreon today and buy you a few Marrrs Barrrrs ;0)

Thanks Glen. The numbers of times I have taken shelter in dubs on walks. The C2C day 2 being a wash out after a full day 1 of torrential rain. Your videos and now words convey so much of the sentiment that we all feel for the Lakes. I’m 348 miles away and visit 3 times a year since I was 21. I dream about a life of walking those hills and your vlogs bring the Lakes closer to me here on the south coast. Great job. What was the pub ? The Scafell hotel ? Or the Mary something by Derwent? Get better soon don’t rush as the bad weather will punish you for a quick return.

Its' not cheating! It's a great starting point to make some walks more accessible. We did a really nice one from Honistor, up the tramway path, follow the path along the contour below Grey Knotts then down into Ennerdale valley via Loft Beck, past Black Sail Hut, up to Scarth Gap then up to Hay Stacks and back to Honistor via the quarry.

Great to see you back in the hills… I’ve only ever done all the fells in that area from Honister and I definitely don’t think of it as cheating! 😉 One small request, when you do the viewfinder shots, please can you leave them on screen a few seconds longer? Often it jumps to the next one before I’ve read all the captions. I know I can pause, but YT then greys the screen out, so a bit longer to read & digest what we’re longer at before it moves to the next one would be great 👍

I'm a relative newcomer to your channel Glenn but I'm already an addict. My health isn't the greatest and I can't get about like I used to when I was younger. I used to love walking in North Wales but I can't walk any further than about 4 miles now. Your videos bring me so much pleasure, hiking along vicariously. Please, keep making them. And if you ever head to the Cairngorms, you're more than welcome in Tomintoul. My friends run a great wee B&B and I'll gladly stand you a pint (or two) of Belhaven Black in the local. So good to see you back out on the fells again, even though you're understandably still hobbling. Having been kept off the hills with a dodgy knee on and off for some years, I can sympathise with the frustration, and also the joy of getting back up there (recently did your round of the Langdales which felt such an achievement after a few months with a flare up). And thank you for sharing your dream and inspiration. I found it quite moving. Great to hear you've had that epiphany and I really hope it becomes a reality for you. Watching the videos is certainly an inspiration and living in Norfolk, I get to Cumbria as often as I can but your videos are something to look forward to during the times I'm down in the flatlands. Great to see the Finnster too! I'm sure you've thought of all the 'cheating' fells you can do from higher roads, as well as the Honister ones you mentioned, but I'll just throw these out there - Latrigg from the back road, Knott Rigg/Ard Crags from the Newlands road, Barf from Whinlatter, Hallin Fell from the church. Hope your toe improves soon.

I car't put into words how blown-away I am about that location. I cart express myself enough how breathtaking it all is been on top of any mountain or fell in that location. I was there 3-weeks ago on top of Great Gable the views over Waste Water form Great Gable is mind blowing. I have done this so many times and it still blows me away just how absolutely stunning it is,. Camping on top of Fleetworth pike and seeing the sunset over High Crag and the sunrise is astonishing and the stars on the night is beautiful. This Saturday I went to Holy Island and Bambough Castle for a change and regretted not going to Lakeland as missed the views so much form the summits the Lakeland fells and mountains are in my heart and soul. And the Scottish Munro's. As you said in this video, I will also never stop climbing the mountains in Lakeland and Scotland I will do this until my last breath. I try other locations including the Grand Canyon and Kayaking down Colorado river this summer was incredible, the views over the Grand Canyon is unbelievable and something I shall remember forever.... Hi, I've been watching lost of these kind of videos since 2017 after I took a bad fall when out with my new dog who I was training. I had already some 20 years ago had what they called a resurfacing of my left hip due to a deformity of the femur head. When I feel on that sunny but very cold day in January 2017 I thought I had dislocated my left hip again as this had happend 4 times over the 20 years. I was alone and had to shout for help as I sat on the ice ground. After around an hour I was found and an ambulance was called by the time they got me into the ambulance I had been sat on the ground for nearly 4 hours. When I got to hospital I was informed that I'd broken the left hip very badly, and would now need a complete new hip replacement to say I was shocked was an understatement as I thought I'd just dislocated it again. I had the operation but because of the mental work already in place they needed to put a longer metale stem down inside my femur, this they did. While in recover I was experiencing some pain in my knee of all places, moving on on the day of my what they called The Kitchen Test I passed so I could now go home in the next few days, later that same day I was in my room and got out of bed and as I was walking with the Zimmer frame this pain I was getting in my knee hit really bad and I ended up on my bum on the floor, (Wonderful) nursing staff can no longer help lift you up incase they injured themselves so they tried to put me in a hoist, I'm a tall lady and because I now couldn't bend my left leg hooking the left side of the seat was causing a problem, anyway they got me in though I did let out a very loud scream as they did it. I was taken to the Xray department but only me knee was xrayed, moving on over the next 4 weeks I went from a woman that was walking wit a Zimmer frame and who had passed her kitchen test to go home, now I couldn't stand let alone walk, I was still in hospital when my 8 week check up with my surgeon took place, he had not been informed that I'd had a fall, so sent me off to have 8 xrays of my leg from foot to hip, this was when he found that I had somehow broken my femur in that second fall, which they had all missed on the ward for 6 weeks even though I couldn't do anything I'd been doing before the second fall they had not looked into it, I'd even been sent for another xray during this time which actually showed the brake in my femur yet the xray department had reported that all looked well with my leg and that there was now problems, the femur was now healing on it's own but my led was now twisted, within two days of them learning this I was sent home, to my flat, I'd spent 9 weeks in hospital, and now I couldn't get out of my flat as it had it's own staircases and I had to spend another 8 working my flat. I was going mad. It was at this time I came across videos like yours they became my saviours I started watching as many as I could because in away I was using these videos vicariously to help me get out so to speak. Sorry that was long winded but I wanted to let you know just how important yours and others videos are to people that have for what ever reason lost their freedom in a way. I had to find a home for my new dog he was a very large German Shepherd of almost two years who had little to no training and he was very very strong not just in body but in will also, I took him on as I'd owned 9 GSDs every the years and had got into the obedience training of these dogs. I knew it was going to be a long time before I could pick up where I'd been health wise on the day of my slip on black ice that had lead to all this. Without people like you that make these hiking camping videos I'm not sure where I'd be. I love what you call you banter and dont apologise about talking about your in growing toenail they are very very painful. I wish I could walk or climb these hills, but if i did I'd probably end up putting other people's lives in danger as they would have to come rescue me, so at least I get to see these fantastic views, so thank you sir and all your fellow RU-vid outdoorsman and women for filming your trips and for taking me along with you.c❤❤❤❤❤

Missed your last three vlogs, due to being on holiday met lots of lovely people and every one of them I told I missed the Lake District. I’m sat in a hotel now catching up on RU-vid. Bye the way it’s definitely not cheating to go up in the van 👍

Just subscribed been watching your vids past week or so and have to say they are wonderful. My husband and I left the UK ten years ago and live in South East Asia but visit England in the summer to see family and the Lakes. Back again soon and can't wait to do some of the walks you shared. Keep up the brilliant work

Pleased to hear that you've got plenty more videos to come! I'm from the North East so I'm looking forward to your road trip 👍🏻

Hi Glenn. I totally love your videos & want to do every walk I see you do. I must get back to the lakes soon. I’ve done the walk up to Haystacks via Dubs Hut & Innominate Tarn a few times but I’m definitely going to try for Fleetwith Pike another time. Being a ‘nearly oldie’ of 58 I have hip arthritis which is slowing me down sometimes but I feel determined to keep on getting into the hills for the hikes that make me feel the way you described when you were in that beautiful lunch spot. Thanks for your beautiful videos 😊

Great video once again, lots of very peaceful and happy vibes radiating through the screen! If it isn't on your unending list of ideas yet, I'd love to recommend hiking up the Dentelles de Montmirail (Provence, France)! Amazing area, I absolutely love walking around there on holidays. And for the Netherlands specifically (and you might be familiar already): all the Waddeneilanden but especially Schiermonnikoog, which is my favourite. It's the smallest of the bunch but it's also the most unspoilt I think. Keep up doing what makes you (and us!) happy!!

Take care of that ingrown toenail, they can be nasty. I had one in my early teens and ended up having to have the nail removed - I can still see the evidence some 45ish years later. It was a lovely looking walk, will have to see if I can get up there one day.

So glad to hear you’re going to continue the vlogs for ever and ever 🙏🏻. I’ll be with you and the clan along the way. Went up Haystacks and Fleetwith a few weeks ago but must admit loved the view from Black Star as much as any! I’m finding now I’m looking for Birketts on my wainwright travels as they are well worth the effort to get to 👌🏻

Thanks for another great video, Glen. If you’ve got room on your list, I’d love to see what your photographers eye makes of Brimham Rocks. Also the area around Rosedale Abbey - the North Yorkshire Moors took my breath away.

Aww this video has made me so happy. When you said at the beginning about a decision you'd made I was panicking you were giving up. Such fab news you're going to continue making these videos. By the way, how long did this walk take you as you might be going more at my pace? Now go and get that bloody toe sorted!!
