As a tradesman, and I’m a combustion engineer which is pretty much top of the earners in the construction/maintenance sector, I’m paid way less than middle managers. If someone in a HR Dept doesn’t turn up to work tomorrow, NOTHING happens, no one steps in, no one picks up their work, they just deal with it when they return. Same goes for most of these types of jobs. If I don’t turn up, maybe a hospital would have to shut some wards, maybe a restaurant has to close for the day/week, or a school sends its kids home. So, who’s more valuable……………. Well not me, because my qualifications are not university earned, so that makes me one of the people who get their hands dirty for a living. No one’s impressed by me until I turn up and fix their boiler, then the bank manager loves me, up until then they look down their noses at me. Blair told everyone to go to university, now, construction is in crisis. Labour created this monster, no apprentices were being trained, who cares, well just get a Polish guy instead, a guy sharing digs with 10 others. How could a UK born engineer compete with that, when he has a wife and 3 kids, a huge mortgage ( thanks again to Blair/Brown ) to pay for. No payrise, no need, just import some more instead. Now, the Polish went home because their economy is doing better than hours, and guess what, employment agencies after Brexit were complaining they were having to offer better wages to entice UK workers back to construction. That woman hasn’t a clue based in reality, neither has the guy, because outside the M25 NOBODY wants any immigration………………

lazy?? what utter bs I work in the care sector and today we've already had this discussion about poor recruitment. its simply about very bad pay and appalling working conditions( which includes occasional abuse and assaults), why hire locals when you can hire cheap oversea labour at very low wages , sometimes 20% less with a promise of citzenship( thats why they come here). now its led to explotiation and abuse. evey time I hear someone claim laziness, then I challenge them to come and do my job. you wouldn't last a day....

Our Towns and Cities and villages are full of hard working peaceful British People. Our crops were harvested by our own people until farmers greed went for ultra cheap labour instead. Our façtories and shops were all staffed by British People. We trained our own Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons and Engineers. We as a country invented and put in place a huge amount of infrastructure around the world, it was called the Industrial Revolution. I have had many more hard working British People work for me with much less hassle and trouble than others from elsewhere. We never needed Mass Immigration and on all fronts it has been a disaster. a single person get just over £1000 if renting on UC i get £1650 after tax for a full month im better of by £650 but i work 180 hrs a month im £3.60 better of an hour never mind cost of getting to work so it fact i get payed £3.60 because i work this is why so many people cant see a reason to work in this country. working should pay.

The woman has a point……British workers do the easy jobs. Office jobs and the jobs that are. Not physical in nature, and get paid very good salaries from medium and large size companies so I don’t blame them. Construction work is very very hard on the body….try it for 1 day? You’re lifting, cutting, pulling and breaking heavy loads that put pressure on your back and joints cutting your working career a lot less than an office worker. Construction workers don’t get paid what they deserve for what they do……most of them get paid lower than these office workers so I don’t blame not being motivated……..unless you pay these real skilled workers at least £5k per month after tax….minimum……it’s not worth it. Remember as well construction work in the most dangerous working environment………and on average for all this construction workers on average in the uk get paid £30,000 per year (£2k per month) Which is a joke.

It used to be that at 16 you had access to training courses that paid you to learn to bricklay, become electrians, then labour got in and told kids no wait you dont need to we need foreigners to come here to lay bricks, stay at school learn nowt. Wages dropped through the floor in all industries due to their immergration policy and millions of skilled workers suffered, they will work for less while screwing the welfare state at the same time.
