As the #MCU prepares to introduce Adam Warlock, of course Marvel Comics must do its best to ensure the character gets taken down a peg or two. Meet EVE WARLOCK, the next evolution of #Warlock! She's come to strip Adam of all his power. Right in time for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie, Marvel Comics introduces a female version of Adam Warlock with Eve Warlock! Someone stronger, faster and smarter!
So since James Gunn has Ayesha in the MCU, we can guess Marvel Comics wants to create another female version of Adam Warlock with Eve Warlock! But better!
"Adam Warlock meets his match this April!" teases the announcement by Marvel and of course, it's by fan-favorite writer Ron Marz, too!
The announcement adds: "Before he jetted off to space, Adam Warlock was artificially created by scientists on Earth to be the 'perfect specimen.' What fans will shockingly discover is that as Adam went on to wield the Infinity Gems and play key roles in epics like Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity Watch, another specimen was created-someone stronger, faster and smarter than Adam himself! Meet EVE WARLOCK, the next evolution of Warlock! She's come to strip Adam of all his power, starting with the Soul Gem!"

Women are only ever used as hood ornament fan service anyway. Just look at Emma Frost and She Hulk. Nobody would have bought their books if they weren't cover models. Nobody cares about female characters unless their is some kind of brand connection to the male ones.

The Mighty Thor is good because it's someone taking the mantle with Mjolnir. Batgirl is good because it's legacy role, and the first woman that Batman trained to be a crime fighter. The daughter of wolverine is good because her story is used to expand upon logans story. Theres nothing intrinsically wrong with characters like that, but Eve Warlock is being setup to just be better than Adam Warlock for no fucking reason which is super lazy.

The biggest reason for the lack of created Male variations of significant Female SuperHeroes in Comic Books, is due to *a lack of significant Female SuperHeroes that aren't already Female Variants of Male SuperHeroes!* Now the problem _isn't_ that there is an over-abundance of Male Heroes and Villains - it's the _belief of Modern Comic Book Authors_ that they can't create an *Original SuperHeroine* that is popular *without springboarding off the Success of an Existing Male SuperHero!* Now if Creators could just understand the concept that *you can have a strong Female Character without making them a Walking Billboard for Feminine Superiority,* then you might actually get some _great Female Heroes and Villains in Comics again!_

Ex: wonder woman, zatana and the death's family. All of them are from dc comics and they are great. Even if we take gender swaps and copies of existing heroes that were created before the spike of this ideology, these were great, just see young justice, this has gender swapped versions of existing heroes and they are great, with a great story, an original purpose and good character design. There was already a gender-swapped Adam Warlock. She was called 'Her' or 'Paragon' and she's been around since the late 70s. As for Marvel gender-swapping only going one way, that's almost certainly because there are so few prominent female super-heroes until you get to Len Wein's (and then Clairemont and Byrne's) X-Men. It's noteworthy that this pioneering progressive super-team was filled with people of all nationalities and routinely had female characters (Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm) who were much more powerful than their male counterparts. Marvel was rewarded with this early effort at representation with record sales and popularity for their book.

That’s one, not true and two, not why they do it. There’s been many reasons in the past like She-Hulk being made so that the tv show The Incredible Hulk wouldn’t adapt and own the character like Batman tv show did. So that’s one instance of having a reason to do it that isn’t lazy and to add a female character. Now did many female characters have their own books? No, but there were a lot of female characters in The Avengers and X-Men. A lot. Which have always been just two of marvels best selling books and that’s not mentioning all the X books and all the Avengers books that are ongoing at the same time. I figure they’re doing this now so they can try and hit a good sale. Which probably has been awhile since they have done so.

@@achingbacon7897 That's a great idea! How many times are you going to rush out to see Marvel's Northman or DC's The Midguardian?! Oh... you don't know them because they're brand new characters? But trust us! You'll love these characters! Marvel and DC survive on character recognition, while new characters sound great, even side character movies go bust, let alone brand new characters nobody cares about. Updating characters for the times does make sense. Women, trans, and persons of color are not represented at the same level as white dudes, because back in the day when comics were first coming out, people would not have read them as willingly as they do now. Race/gender swapping allows for retention of character recognition, while also making the hero more relatable to a wider swath of society. Most heroes (especially team leaders) are white straight men, so changing characters to become more of the same doesn't increase diversity, it just makes what was unique into more of the same.

In the past, the gender swapped women heroes to become men. Captain Marvel was Monica, but she was black and a woman so they made a white Man as Captain Marvel but that didn't stick. Then his son came in and a bunch of twins until Danvers came in and that seemed to work for everyone. Same problem but now the tables have switched. The laziness is a big part of the problem because if they are written properly, they are really good. Like X-23 and so on.

What are you on about. It’s literal a singular comic book character. You’re just upset that one character is female and is stronger than their male counterpart. If that’s the case why not hate supergirl/power woman. She’s a stronger version of Superman, the only thing stopping her from curb stomping Superman is she’s not as used to her powers. Just get over it. They’re comic book characters and for the most part all of the strongest characters are male.

Wonder woman, she is one of the strongest heroes in the dc universe, we don't have a problem with her because she is unique and a great idea, not forced ideology. If we go with gender swaps, a good one is Harley Quinn, a gender swap of joker and she has a great and unique character, she isn't just joker but female and saying she is better than joker. Both of them are great with their own story

It's not even that making gender swapped characters is bad it's that the writers only care about making the gender swapped characters stronger better versions of the original and giving them the same or no personality at all In the comics she hulk and Bat girl are good example of gender swapped characters that are actually good and distinguish themselves from their counterpart Unfortunately live action has not done them justice at all

I'm a woman myself and even I'm getting tired of us taking the spotlight in almost all Marvel media. I think male superheroes are awesome, why get rid of them to prop up mary sues like Captain Marvel or Captain Carter?? Honestly, I enjoy seeing strong men and I'm gonna be real here, I think lots of other women who are Marvel fans feel the same. I love Black Widow, Gamora and Nebula, I really enjoyed Scarlet Witch up until Endgame. I love female heroes who aren't completely powerful and just made to be better than the guys. Don't even get me started on the She-Hulk Disney plus show ... Ugh 😂
