This popping up on my homepage randomly after binging 4 hours of anime instead of studying for the mcat is my FBI agent’s way of telling me to get my shit together 😩
Every single internal medicine doctor I have worked with has told me they regret going to medical school and that medicine is the source of their depression but they can’t just quit. Like I don’t want to be depressed when I’m 59
@@adrienne2838 Med school has been really challenging both mentally and physically. However I am passionate about medicine and know that I will be very happy as a family doc. Dont ever go into medicine if you are not passionate about the field or the specialty you've chosen. There are a lot of jaded docs but far more happy ones
Love the honesty in your title! As a fellow anime lover and casual gamer, it's refreshing to see someone break down the MCAT journey in a relatable way.
Hey I got a 533 on my MCAT and 2400 clinical service hours, but I still don't feel like I have enough to get into med school. Should I save a cat from a tree or will that not set me apart enough from my Yale competition. Please help!
Great video. I was feeling burnt out from studying for my MCAT and you just provided some great advice, motivation and resources. Thanks P.S. do you have a video showing your reaction to your score?
HANG ON HANG ON WHAT VIDEO GAME IS THAT INTRO MUSIC FROM? Is it Dragonquest? It can’t be Pokemon or Zelda, but nobody plays Dragonquest. What’s going on!
hi help the sound cuts out for a minute at like 4:36-5:45 ... is no one else having this problem? It happened on my phone too ??? wtf is happening what did I MISS
I think uworld is helpful. Good explanations, but definitely harder than the real thing. Technically not necessary but if you can afford it it will only help
How to I stop overthinking? I have done 8FL and did most of uworld questions but I am still getting scores like 123 and 124 on my chem, bio and psyc sections.
I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this but from 4:38 to 5:45 I don’t hear any sound coming from the video. I kinda wanted to know what a lot of people ask and your tip for that lol Overall, thanks for the info you gave in this video. It’s super helpful!
One way to help ppl embrace the 60% material is ..keep moving! The material will repeat so don't get too bogged down on trying to look everything when you first hear about it
Been a minute so idk if you’ve taken it yet, but I’ve scored 99th percentile in cars for each of the full lengths I’ve taken, what works for me is really taking the time to fully understand every sentence in the passage before moving on to questions. It’s ok to spend extra time reading because it makes the questions go by faster. They try to trip you up with these dense passages, but if you have a complete understanding of everything in it, you’ll realize the questions themselves are pretty common sense most of the time. Try to force yourself to be interested in each passage, it does a lot to help with comprehension. Good luck!
@@jaredking7540 Yeah I try that and then the issue is that I can’t spend more than 4 minutes on the passage or else I never finish the questions within the time limit. Also, some of the Reasoning behind the text questions don’t just test comprehension but make you take the ideas in the passage to a whole different level so it’s hard for me :( I’m trying my best to practice, I see a little improvement. I took the mcat already and got a 129 on science sections and 124 on cars. I’m retaking in January tho to bump up that cars. I’m just praying at this point cuz it’s so unpredictable and depends entirely on the set of passages u get on that particular day. I just want a 515 man. But thank you so much for ur insight, I appreciate it!
Yes please god I’ve been studying for 3 months and my score has not gone up at all. 😂 this goddamn test has caused me so much mental anguish. I’m firmly stuck at a 501-502. Part of that is that I need accommodations that I don’t have (the aamc makes it incredibly difficult to get accommodations even if you’ve had them throughout university) I run out of time on every section every time with the exception of psych. When I do get through the first 3, it’s because I rushed and went as fast as I possibly could. I took my sixth practice test yesterday, and my frickin score dropped to a 499. I sobbed. I’m not stupid. I have a high gpa in grad school and I am qualified to teach the med students anatomy. But there is something very very wrong. I seriously considered quitting yesterday, which is dumb because I’ve spent 6 years of my life getting to this point, and I’m almost 27. Usually I avoid videos like this because they make me feel bad about myself, but you didn’t. Thanks for that.
Lol as he called out “filling out that fancy spreadsheet” on every wrong question, I was LITERALLY doing just that 👀 But hey, great video. I needed this.
@@ImAfterglow They should. GPAs vary so much from school to school its impossible to tell what kind of student they are. There are elite schools that have pretty brutal grade depression versus the ivys with grade inflation, versus state school which tend to be easier. MCAT is the great equalizer.
I'm at 497 :( and really would like to go up about 8-10 points!! I'm planning to retake my MCAT in March, I'll let you know how it goes. The Kaplan course did not work for me, but also my exam got pushed back 4 months because of covid so to say I lost motivation is an understatement. lol
Hello! It looks like you were muted from 4:38 to 5:45 times! is there a way to get that bit? I could not even use closed captions Your video is awesome btw!!! thank you!
Good luck to everyone studying for the MCAT! I hope all your hard (and i guess "lazy") studying pays off! Y'ALL GOT THIS~ going to start studying in January!! Thanks you for the tips!
Not completely lazy here lol but wrapping up my PhD in O.Chem that i need to maximize my time and efforts as I'm prepping for the MCAT. This video is a 💎. So glad I came across it. Thank you very much!
7:32 This is me on any and every test, whether its real or a practice, whether I know the material well or not I always overthink and end up getting a lot of the questions wrong when I would have aced the test if I went with my gut feeling.
I spent all day binging RU-vid. I ate lunch and dinner in bed. I am dumb like your friend Justin. Now RU-vid recommends this video. Well RU-vid, way to send me on a guilt trip 😂
Hi Josh! Great video, really appreciate the time you put into it. I do have a question about what you said in the audio that is missing. Did you advise to focus more time on increasing your section scores in areas that you are stronger because it takes less time/effort than trying to raise your to score in areas you are weak in as they will result in the same overall score? Thanks!
hi! I'm definitely not josh, but from what I've seen (random knowledge picked up from browsing reddit, youtube, talking to other premeds, etc), it's more worth it to focus on increasing your scores in areas you're weak in. two reasons: (1) it's generally "easier" to increase (for example) 2 points from a 123 to a 125 in a certain section, than it is to increase 2 points from a 129 to 131 in that same section. (2) it looks better when applying to have a more even spread of scores (e.g. 512 broken down into 128/129/128/128) than it does to have really high scores in some areas while having notably lower scores in others (e.g. 514 broken down into 126/129/132/127), because the former shows that you're more well-rounded.
How many hours did you study per day for content review? When did you officially study for the mcat, summer or during the semester? Also CONGRATS on getting in and going to med school!!! I’m new to your channel (:
