How are “the most vulnerable pensioners” going to freeze if the wfp’s are going to be means tested? Why should millionaires/ people sitting on hundreds of thousand of pounds in property wealth get free money?
@petewalsh764 If you're genuinely interested in the truth, do you own research. The inequality is evident for anyone to see. I'm not interested on arguing to convince strangers of what I already know.
They have to keep up the far right nonsense. Remember anyone concerned about mass immigration, daily stabbings and 2 tier everything is officially far right.
Thankfully, that lot are now gone, and not before time too. I don't want the Tories to ever come back into power, but I'm interested in focusing on who is in charge, not who was in charge a few weeks ago.
That's true but Labour are really mild tories. For the first time this election I couldn't vote for them. Labour doesn't stand for what it did 20 years ago and Murdoch wouldn't have supported them if they were.
“He’s giving away our money while freezing the elderly” “Yeah but what about riots and sending them a message” What, does he think the pensioners were behind it? Does he think they need to pay?
@@weareallbornmad410 the money forcibly taken from your paypackets every month that instead of being invested back into public services or paying off the national debt, is being given to other countries that don't even need it (most likely in exchange for monetary favours that will help the political elite get even richer)

(Insert British store equivalents)
The 11.6 billion was pledged by the Tories and consists mostly of commitments made under international treaties. It is the total budget for a five year period and includes money already paid out. So 11.6 billion will not be going out. The outstanding balance will be going out. Do you want Labour to turn Britain into a nation that reneges on it's signed promises with our international partners? How do you think that will strengthen the country? Turning us into a nation which can not be relied upon to keep its promises.
International law and treaties are broken daily with impunity so why should the uk government give a flying about breaking them and perhaps give the money to freezing pensioners! Charity starts at home 🏡
@@adamnicholson8245 If you believe pensioners are going to freeze, you truly are a fool governed by media. The vast majority of pensioners have plenty of money to cope. Those who don't, they qualify by definition for additional help. That help is largely unclaimed, but it is available. All those who claim the pension credits will also be given the winter allowance. Why is it largely unclaimed? It is unclaimed because the tory government shifted it from an automatic program which paid those the government already knew needed it, to an opt-in program you had to sign up for using a digital portal, which many pensioners can't operate. Nobody is going to freeze as a result of this change.
Yep but let's not let the facts get in the way of reality. Plus hardly like it is the vulnerable old people, it is winter fuel payments for richer pensioners that are being stopped. AND the Tories constantly do this all the time, they pander to their voters, the old overwhelmingly vote for the Tories not Labour and the more well off pensioners even more so, so why would Labour pander to them when the Tories have been giving them preference over the younger generations for years.
@@tajj7 they are both sides of the same coin. But I can't see how anyone can defend KS at the moment. Yeah younger generation blah blah complete drivel as no doubt they will find out when they get to pension age.

Disagree. Far better to help a poorer nation become self sufficient and trade with us....both morally and economic sense. Take Poland as a prime example.
The government doesn’t charge you for that, it’s the private businesses who control such a vital aspect of our lives, which should’ve never been the case!
You should check out the announced figures; billions of pounds in profit for energy companies this year. BP alone made £4 Billion in profit in only 3 months this year! Private companies should never be allowed to have that much control over the lives of a whole nation. Essential services should always be under government control.
@@cosmokramer8261The problem is that private companies who only care about profit are charging the british people for a basic nessecity for human survival. Nationalise power!
@kumstuke Well Kier broke his promise on getting divendends from the billions in profit that energy companies were making and lessening the burden on small to medium businesses and households. It's going up by 10% in winter and that was one of his election pledges. So glad I didn't vote Labour for the first time this election, because I never trusted Starmer.
Well said that man! How can Starmer justify spending billions on migrant hotel's and billions abroad and then cut the winter fuel payments for our pensioners! They have paid their taxes all their lives and should be the number one priority of our government!
Right so how could the Tories flush hundreds of billions down the toilet to their mates but you all still voted them in the last time around that didn't change your opinion then did it If we don't have the money to do something how can we do it? This will have been put into the budget years ago when the Tories signed up to it
@@thenoobdestroyer100So they can give train drivers a pay rise to take their wages to £80,000 a year but can't find the money for a winter fuel payment to pensioners who only get £11.500 a year!
The Khazanah Nasional Berhad is actually real so I wouldn’t class it as a claim. Rachel Reeves not that long ago pledged to set up a new UK Sovereign Wealth Fund. I would argue that a pledge is more suspicious than a claim in this day and age. In any case, have you ever thought about what a Sovereign Wealth Fund actually is and why the caller cared to mention it in the first place?
@@darkstatehk A sovereign wealth fund is just an investment portfolio for tax money, and has proven very successful in other countries around the world. I dunno how or why it has become polarising.
@@icedreamer9629because it’s not understood and seems suspicious to people who are on the look out for conspiracies. @@icedreamer9629 Indeed, and please share reports on the ROI of the UK's Sovereign Wealth Fund's performance and how it has helped British citizens through their decades and decades of tax contributions. After all, investment opportunities are there to create wealth, are they not?
So, my 72-year-old mother who still works 6 days a week in a train station, and came to this country without a penny or education to her name, doesn't 'actually need' WFA, according to you? I don't know where you overprivileged Labour Party simps get off. You have NO understanding of what the poor are suffering. And, yes, I am a Labour voter. Shame that this is how they repay my family after all the work I've done campaigning for them. Shame on them and SHAME ON YOU.
Oh, that's OK, so only a few will die out of the ten billion pensioners that have paid into the economy and taxes or their lives. Why is the left so agist?.
Starmer is the only person in Britain who has a Parliamentary exemption from pension tax....what are your thoughts on that mindless piece of hypocrisy.....Discuss
There will be Some in the middle that just lose out by say a fiver that will suffer as its hard to have a cut off point that doesn't affect people who are not wealthy.
Do you not now think we are being divided deliberately? How to increase tensions and instability in order to implement increasing authoritarian measures via digital surveillance and coercive control. Hegelian dialectic, or problem, reaction, solution. This method basically involves fabricating or intensifying a problem, offering a draconian solution, then settling for a “compromise” that nevertheless furthers the intended goal.
Or their could just be influential groups incredibly hostile to Labour, spreading lies v twitter, knowing full well people will get angry and not ever check the detail behind the headline.
Just before the dinlos see this - nobody is saying the UK will be excessively hot year round. Globally, we are looking at a few degrees, (2.5 - 5) above pre industrial levels. This will result in extreme weather, droughts, floods, and affect millions of people.
You have zero evidence for global warming continuing . In the 79s they were warning of a new ice age. It was scientific consensus . Sound familiar ? Guess what it was complete bs!
Yet no gov will ever windfall tax the PROFITS to cover the winter fuel allowance. Why do energy companies need billions in profits again? They are providing a public service.
@rossmackay-williams4583 Tax avoidance is something that everyone takes advantage of. The rich don't have a special dispensation in laws they just benefit it great than the likes of you and me Closing loopholes in tax will affect all of us not just the rich.
Our MOST VULNERABLE pensioners are not going to lose the winter fuel payment. I'd love to see this same caller reacting to the fact that last year the payment was being made even to millionaire pensioners. I'll agree that there should be more of a "sliding scale" between those who will still qualify and those who won't.
That’s not the case. The most vulnerable pensioners are the ones on a basic state pension but who don’t qualify for any benefits. These are the ones who are losing out most. Many pensioners who qualify for benefits have a higher income than people who are in full time work.
It doesn't justify the money going out of the country while the poor are using food banks and there are veterans sleeping rough and chold poverty. The rich politicians are very generous with our money as thedont understand what it's like to struggle getting by
Exactly. Aid is not free money. The UK government is buying things like diplomatic favours or aid is given on condition they use that money buying from British companies (back into Tory donor pockets). It could also be in the form of a loan too.
Pensioners overwhelmingly voted for Brexit and have consistently voted in the Tories over the last 14 years, they still voted Tories in the last election in large numbers, so I have little sympathy because it those decisions that bled the country of it's money. The most vulnerable pensioners will still get it anyway, so why should I care about richer pensioners who have been getting special treatment from the Tories for years and years, because they pander to them because they vote for them. Look at the election, Tories promise national service for the young, but an extension of the triple lock for the pensioners. Even when facing down their biggest election defeat they still kicked the boot in on young people and pandered to the old.
Everyone has to pay… except public services with a union that has Labour in their pocket… no tightening of belts there… billions of pounds frictionlessly handed over without any conditions… whilst holding press conferences about the dire starts of the public finances. It just stinks.
@stripeysoul You're complaining about them not tightening their belts and yet the tories gave massive tax breaks to the rich that never had to tighten their belts in their life like Sunak for instance. Remember him?
Hello the problem is not all pensioners are well off. If you lost your job tomorrow would you say universal credit was more than enough to meet your needs?
I'm really surprised that this caller was allowed..! He on made more sense than all the previous callers and presenters put together in the last year's
Not as bad as 2011, 5 people died, 16 members of the public were injured, 190 police officers were injured, and 3000 were arrested. These latest ones aren’t nowhere near as horrible, not that it’s a competition but it should be in perspective, and not distorted for division and political points. No one was labelled a terrorist, or far right/far left, and no one was given prison for shouting at a police dog. Its worth a read the 2011 Mark Duggan riots. Rioters are always treated harshly, some justly, and some are treated less justly. The reason is that rioters are a threat to the people who are to blame, the government. They pretend it’s to protect people and property from damage or violence, but it’s to protect the government from losing the illusion of Control. The riots pale in comparison to the damages caused by government policies, both left and right.
@@adambinnie1332 No, as you know the far left are all decent people so anything they do is much nicer, more civil, even when people are killed or the public are injured to higher degree than say the recent "far right" riots. Questioning the left means you're the idiot, and they'll make you aware of your short comings.
