The whole domino theory, which turned out to be not true Johnson didn't want to go in, but his advisors and the pentagon wanted to go in Robert McNamara pushed LBJ drew him in then we got in, they said we have to put more and more because we have to save face, so it's like going tilt in poker, throwing good money at bad. We should of washed our hands of it after the elections in 64.

Lyndon was opposed to participating in the Vietnam War but was afraid of being seen as "weak on communism" by the Repuglicans.

It's crazy to think that they knew that Vietnam was a mess, not worth it, and a huge mistake even way back in 1964, and LBJ went in anyway. One of the worst Presidents we have ever had.
