Creeperboy That’s actually retarded. They are all gone currently, a new build has been proposed but not confirmed as of yet, so currently they are all fucking gone.
This REALLY made my day! I love to see the sensible and slow speed style prototypical driving and the lovely chuff chuff sounds instead of those who race around the tracks with huge locos that make almost no exhaust and no sounds! Excellent stuff, well done. I liked the cab view very much.
That's a gorgeous little engine. How much did she cost to build and who made her? And a question about engines of this scale, how do you clean the grate during prep?
She was built by George Williams and Peter Gardner and took 5-10 years to build. i do not know of the cost of her build. the grate only requires putting in at the start of the day as when she is 'put to bed' the grate is dropped out and cleaned ready for the next run.
Beautiful loco there; love it in its new paintjob ^^ I almost thought it was the full size thing when i saw the video icon :p oh, if only... xp How long did it take to build?
thanks for the share! the loco is 22 years old and i believe it took 5 years to build (on and off) but i bought this engine so don't know much about her construction. as far as i am aware she is the largest working E2 model in the world so she is very precious and is run almost every month.
Seth Guest Yes it was. with minor modifications to allow it to wok in such a small scale and be easy to operate such as a mechanical lubricator mounted inside the frames.
***** Believe it or not, the original blueprints for this engine have survived, I found this out myself just last year. They're in the NRM (National Railway Museum) in the UK.
***** I, too, would also love to see a full-scale re-creation of a Billington E2 0-6-0 built, but I suppose that someone must pitch the idea to one of the UK's railway societies first, and then raise the funds for her construction, but really, it all depends on how many train enthusiasts actually like this engine, and if any of the societies are interested in the project. Maybe, we'll see one built in the future, at least I hope that we will.
😔 its not a real E2 well it is but i was on the hunt to find pic of thw lbscr E2 cause whwn i grow up i am going to rebuild one of them sorry if i angerd u.
i assure you this is as close a steam powered E2 as youll find around, she was built using the original plans for the second batch of engines. there are plenty of photos online of the originals and of course the famous spin-off thomas version of them. no anger at all, just glad to see people still looking at the engine :)
