We derive the charge as a function of time on a capacitor in an LC circuit - also known as an oscillating circuit or tank circuit. We use Kirchoff's rule that the.sum of voltage changes around a loop is zero and 4:10 make an analogy to a mechanical oscillator (mass on a spring). The specific inductance L or capacitance C that is chosen can establish the frequency at which an electrical circuit will resonate, just as a particular spring constant and mass can control the frequency at which a mass on a spring will oscillate. 6:58 Finally, we build a conceptual understanding of why the current should oscillate instead of simply decaying to zero as the capacitor discharges.
