Hello RC Modelers!
Checkout LDR/C's upgraded RC 1300 Unimog; the LD1201. This thing is packed with features including portal axles, twin motors, lockable diffs, and ball bearings throughout. But it's going to cost you twice as much as their original P06. But is it worth the extra £££££? In this review I run your through the full spec and compare it to the P06 and tell you what I think of it.

I have the 06 but have been fairly disappointed with the stock version of it. The 12 looks like it has all the mods already done, and the video shows the performance I would expect from the vehicle to make it fun to run.

Hi James! It's always a pleasure to watch your vids. Rather than lockable diffs, it would be better to have a real suspension setup, at least closer to reality. So I will continue to modified the 06s, and maybe adapt a 380 motor on a two speed gearbox I have in stock. I will study the feasibility of such a modification after my holidays.

I got one yesterday. To weak springs in the rear, and only one extra spring included. But amazing value with the portal axles, 2-speed transmission and the servo diff locks.

It was a good idea to let us see the old version tackling the same obstacles, seen from the same position. Yes, this is worth the money, to me at least. The fact that the price is beginning to approach that of entry-level 1:10 stuff is irrelevant to me, as mine is a largely 1:12 scale channel. In fact, I'm always bemoaning the lack of new 1:12 scale talent, and the withdrawal from the market of such 1:12 stalwarts as the Team Associated CR12, so this Unimog is a very tempting prospect.

Hi. Good question. Depends how big it is. No room under cab, so would have to go inside it or on the rear bed. It would also need to work with JST type plugs as that's what the esc/rx uses. Not sure of there is one. But you could of course swap out all the electrics as a last resort.

How do you rate the gearbox to a wpl 2speed? Also are the axles same size as wpl axles? If they are that would be great for my franken mn99

Hi. Yep the axles are the same size; I used wpl axle trusses to do my multi-link sus mod to the P06 Unimog. So far the gearbox has been good, but it's not a direct fit to wpl or MN models. Would need a lot of mods.

Sorry. I can't. I've heavily modified the P06 to have multilink suspension and shocks so looks nothing like it did. Check out the video!

@@RCModelsandMods got a bit of experience with that with the wpls I have but I'm thinking about doing a front and rear leaf spring and shock conversion on one or both of my wpl FJs for that scale look after watching this video of something with just leaf springs I definitely will be doing oil shocks as well for the smoothness when flexing
