Le Corbusier was an internationally influential Swiss artist, architect and designer. His dubious associations with totalitarian regimes have failed to diminish his reputation as one of the most inspirational artists of the 20th century.

No personal hatred against Le Corbusier. Just his work. May God bless the fine men and women who work in demolition. May He give them the graces they need to do their noble surgical work.

starman jesus we should remove their world heritage status and demolish them, along with his legacy, along with the bauhaus movement. Their ideas have plagued architecture for 100 years and produced some of the worst buildings in history. Its time for great contemporary visionaries to shine, this old, outdated and closed minded, totalitarian movement must die.

@@DacLMK He believed that buildings should control people. He hated humanity. It wasn't the simplification that was the problem, it was that his buildings were based on forcing the users to "live as Le Corbusier tells you to live". Le Corbusier is adored because he was among the first architects to create architecture for the working class and not the bourgeoise and his designs are affordable by the average worker yet of higher quality than the housing built without regulation until then. The average person would be expected to understand that and sympathise with the needs of the working class, and yet people are programmed to only look at an image and take self-destructive decisions. So now we have many conservatives telling everyone that simple architecture is "ugly" and that everyone should live in Georgian or colonial style manors.
@DacLMK
@DacLMK 3 года назад
Because of those hedonistic reasons is why many young people can't afford their own home. People need to realize that tower blocks are necessary for a city to house the working class and minimize space use.

@@DacLMK Young people cant afford houses anyway. It is proved that house prices barely have anything with the material to do. Its the land that is expensive. @DacLMK
@DacLMK 3 года назад
@@MrReedling I don't know about your country, but in my country Buildings are not that expensive to maintain. We have a lot of buildings that were built in the 60s and 70s that people live in them, and they'll continue to do for many years to come. Cheap tower blocks are the solution that the west needs to pursue if they want to house their homeless population.
@MrReedling
@MrReedling 3 года назад
@@DacLMK what i mean is that a classical building can survive hundreds of years without colapsing but a year is enough for a modern tower to look old and need a repaint. Sometimes you have to consider that buildings that were built in a better quality can be more cost effective since they are also more durable. Im not saying everyone should live in a classical mansion, but i think we could detail our buildings like in the past. In the past working families could still afford to live in a beutiful classical apartment. Sure the apartments were small and crowded but we have alot more money now so that problem could be solved. I think the beuty of the built enviorment contributes to our own happiness and well being
