BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO
Maurice Béjart and Pina Bausch ? What a sad time for this Ballet of Stravinsky ! To come back to the fundamentals of Vaslav Nijinski will be a well done for purists. With our star dancer Alice Renavand : this is that the spirit of modern ballet for those who have not yet understood anything. Maurice Bejart brought idiosyncratic passion and sincerity to his version. There are some triumphs and flatness. Pina Bausch is one of my favorite versions, in fact my top. I hated it for years, but one day it struck me. It's moving, intense and aligns well with the musical score. There's rage, grit despair, power softness togetherness. What an amazing effort by Pina that still thrills even for conservative viewers like me. I'm sorry that Paris version you reference was too mechanical unlike what Marinksy or the Joffrey Ballet did
