Le Train des Pignes - September 2023

Whilst on holiday in France we made a pleasant Sunday excursion to visit and film the Train des Pignes up in the hills above Nice. The train runs on the metre gauge Chemin de Fer de Provence line featuring 1923 built Mallet no.E211 which was owned by Portugeuse Railways. The train operates during the summer months between Puget - Theniers and Annot and the video sees the train at various locations on both the outward and return journeys. All footage is hand held so a few bumps and bobbles. The video was filmed on a warm and sunny Sunday September 10th.2023.
Thanks to the G.E.C.P. association who operate the steam trains over the line.

Great performance from a one hundred year old loco in super scenery Austin. Continental railways have an atmosphere of all their own. Another outstanding set of camera work - I didn't notice any wobbles on the first watch. Take care - Chris

Great video. I need to visit that line. Your video convinced me to make sure my visit is when the steam is operating and have a ride.

It's well worth a visit. Steam usually operates on Sundays from May to October. If you don't want to drive up then quite a few coach firms around Nice include a trip on the line in their programme.
