She is a very articulate storyteller. There is always a backstory of all her performances. She is undoubtedly a bookworm. This, to me, gives more value and meaning on all het performances. She is a cut above the rest.
In the Philippines, 11 Filipinas die from Cervical Cancer every single day. As a medical professional who is part of an organization that promotes Cervical Cancer Awareness and advocates for Regular Cervical Cancer Screening among women, I say this song really resonates. I hope Lea can further lend her voice to shed more light into the matter. After all, she once dreamed of becoming a doctor. And as per statistics, it is usually middle-aged women (capable of achieving greater dreams) that succumb to the dreadful disease.
Lea Salonga's concert album reaches No. 7 spot on Billboard chart. Lea Salonga landed on the 7th spot on Billboard's Classical Contemporary Album chart with her latest concert album. The collection features recordings from her show at the Sydney Opera House in Australia back in 2019.
By far, the video recording is the best. Somehow, the other venues where Lea performed haven't shown professionally-done videos. This one has very good sound, and the video pans. Well done. Congratulations Lea!
Oh my gosh!! i really love this song..i never knew its backstory though and Ms. Lea singing this just made me love it even more.. oh Thank you very much!
Thank you for this great interpretation Ms. Lea. Nanay I missed you everyday😢 To all cancer patients who have succumb to the big C - may you find solace in the arms of God. To all cancer patients who are continuously fighting for their lives - my prayers are with you. To all family members/caregivers - hang on tight, it will be a tough road. It is ok to take a moment to cry and to rest. Thank you for all your time and effort. Salute to all of you.
I did not know the story behind this song till I saw Lea at this concert, or maybe one of her other Sydney shows on this tour. I said goodbye to my mum today, 90 years on this earth and ultimately another victim of breast cancer. She was a classical music lover who regularly attended performances at the Sydney Opera House. The words of this song are ringing through my head. Travel on safely mum.
