Love that point of being committed and consistent to your goal. I just started leading young kids. That was encouraging to hear because my natural personality is not being a leader, but it was something my daughter volunteered me for. Giving up on her and the kids is not something I want to do to them but hopefully that leadership personality in me may grow over time!!! Real encouraging message!!!!

Love the analogy on Siblings where emotions must be unconditional in leadership. Some misunderstanding must not close the relationship and must be towards overall wishing for the person's success at all times. The element on consistency is mandatory like in all things in leadership too.

I brought this information to my supervisor, and sometime later, he was telling me all about it, when I mentioned to him that it was me who sent you that email. He just looked at me like he was stunned. It’s tough to have an environment like Sinek says, when you have a union to deal with. Example : I used to work at Boeing, and after the company was taken over, we were told this is no longer a family company, it’s a business! From that day forward, nobody much cared about the company except for their paycheck!

This hit home so much. Today I was asked to go to another location to help setup. More $,the works. I said no. My team was upset about me leaving as was I. Money isnt everything. I'm devoted to my team and location. And I truly love getting up every day, seeing our crew together, kicking ass and going home knowing we did a great job. Seeing how everyone is motivated. I'm proud I was able to inspire my coworkers. And I'm proud of them for pushing me to step up and lead.

Managers will watch this video and decide to tell their employees that they're family, but still deny wage increases and fire people for the smallest things, all while giving their selves larger bonuses. Employees don't want to hear that they're considered family at work because no employee truly believes they're family simply because you tell them they are. They'll believe they're cared about through your own actions towards them. How you treat them on a behavioral level, a respect level, and what you do for them. They don't want a gift bag with a cheap mug with the company logo on it, or a company t-shirt. Those don't make employees feel valued or as if they're a part of the team. It takes much more than that.

A talk where, ultimately, family models are made the same as corporate hierarchies. The speaker is clearly very gifted. This isn't an explanation of corporate leadership. It's an argument as to why people should buy into its model.

Looking in the mirror in the gym, you do not see nothing, you see yourself. You see who you want to maybe fix, break down and then build up. You see who you are with the mentality of who you want to be, You see the past, present and mental posibility of the future. Leadership is the same. You see youreself as them, a follower, as who they want to see in a leader. Then you gain the confidence in what they want and most importantly need. Then you step up, and realize, they see this, you see this, your higher ups see this. Leadership has no correlation to love. Because love in it of itself is equality in eachother intimately. where as leadership is equality in eachother as a team for a job, but you are a littler bit more. So their idea is in itself the same but not at the same time. It is complicated. There is no family. Only people whom are in a brigade. A union. A fight for who we are and what we want to work for. Beliefs mean nothing. Who we want to be mean nothing. Who we are meant to be mean nothing when its personal. But when unified it means the world. Things are taken out of context and things are meant to be greater. But sometimes things are meant to be left simple. A leader should never ask for it, thos who ask for leadership are the wrong fit. Those who do without thinking that of which would be done by a leader without the expectation of becoming one let alone wanting to become one should be. Power is meant for those who do not desire it, for they are the ones who think for the people for they think for the commong man, those who seek and perviate the idea of leadership should not, for they only wish for their own gain, whether it be for money, ego, or status. This is where we should realize politics is much alike in this concept. Not many think whether voluntary or not and its this same ideology on either spectrum we should base how leadership works.

What he is trying to convey is right, however the content is wrong. The woman doesn't love you or need to love you. She respects you and that is what counts and what is perhaps misunderstood as love. And this respect is not won. It is just there. If it isn't there the first time, it most won't be there next. However she is the one who receives the love from the man which needs to be won. And this love is not what many think love is. People interpret obsession as love which is not correct. This love is care, protection, inspiration, motivation, leadership.

I love Simon's information and messages, and I love this clip, but I can't stand when people put this sort of music on clips. It takes away the power and validity. The information should be powerful and moving enough without trying to make it soppy. Please people, when you make clips don't do the whole movie thing, that's the old-fashioned way of trying to influence and persuade people. In today's age of innovation, we don't need pretty packaging, the product is what we want.

arh yes, but you cannot teach this, this nuance, this internal decision toward empathy, this ability to make decisions, the ability to judge exactly personal space, body movement, etc, none of this can be taught to a level necessary. you can move a person 10% maybe 25% but not enough to shift the Overton Window substantially to turn them into a great leader.

Well, Simon Sinek needs/deserves to be congratulated for both, picking well selected examples to justify his proposition and then presented it in a well structures & consistently systematic way to justify/prove his proposition. For that, "hats off". On the topic of essence of "Leadership", ensuing "trust" to others...I profoundly disagree with Simon Sinek...partly with regard to Research outcomes on the the difference on fundamentals between undertaking the role of a "Manager" & the role of a "Leader" as well as the fact that biologically, 99,5% - 99,6% of the DNA sequence in each "homo sapiens" is "identical" (not "similar"). So, this 0,5% -0,4% of each and one's DNA and the respective Epigenetic marks is what makes each and one of us an idiosyncratic individual...and it is the "character" (dislike "Personality" that many in the position of "Leadership", like "wearing a jacket" (or a "persona=mask")...follow a "Leadership behaviour" with thought "clichés" from Leadership Training Courses.. while, at the very bottom and essence, it is a matter of one's Character and an "integrity" that "naturally" puts some individuals in a respective situation, tryng to resove issues or perform specified tasks, dealing with other people also trying to fulfill those tasks at a certain period of time, acting and proposing ideas ensuing "trust"...Otherwise, if it is a matter of just practice ("Consistency"), then every one can make it...everyone is "just the same"..& it is "just a matter of time". But...It is not....as it is then mixing the "talent", on the one hand, with, skills, knowledge & experience on the other, as the latter are time-bound..."talent" is not....at least accoring to what "Science says...". //Ike A.
