Cameron and Osborne led by Paul Dacre and Rupert Murdoch led the UK in to austerity which we are still feeling the consequences from. Cameron started the run of the worst Conservative Prime Ministers including Sunak.
I said this on another video, but I wonder how many people actually like Cameron and think that he was a good PM? That must be an extremely small group. Pretty much everyone on the left and centre left of the political spectrum of course hates him because of his regime of excessive austerity, the fact that he clearly didn’t care about the poorest and most vulnerable people in society etc. The Lib Dems probably hate him because of his recklessness regarding the EU issue, and because they received most of the blame for the unpopular coalition policies, and none of the credit for the better policies which they drove (including same sex marriage thanks to Lynne Featherstone). The SNP and supporters of Scottish independence hate him especially after his speech the morning after the 2014 referendum, and general behaviour and comments from then on including during the 2015 election, when he tried to counter the SNP's rise by stirring up English nationalism. Many Tory grass roots members and even back bench MPs never liked him at all right from day 1 of his leadership, but ‘tolerated’ him because they’d previously suffered 3 consecutive general election defeats. Many of them didn’t think he was ‘Conservative enough’. His slim majority in 2015 has now been completely overshadowed by Johnson’s much bigger one in 2019. Many Brexiteers, members of UKIP and then the Brexit party under Farage etc., are not remotely grateful to him for calling the referendum. That’s understandably so, as they knew he only did it for party political purposes, and of course they didn’t like his ‘project fear’ strategy and never-ending series of dire warnings during the campaign itself. Farage himself has savaged Cameron's legacy on numerous occasions.
Dear Steve Richards... Can we have a scripted degree essay from you.. I find your 30 mins rather ladybird history books.. Primary school L du Garde Peach
The EU referendum of 2016 was a disgrace... There should have been 4 separate votes... England Scotland Wales & Northern Ireland... 4 equal votes... 3 - 1 we leave.. 2-2 we remain.. Status quo... It was a 2-2 draw... The EU referendum was.. Is.. And will always be a disgrace...
Cameron wasn't goin to stand in the GE 2020.. He said in 2015...the GE would be his last.. "shredded wheat".. So Cameron wins the EU referendum of 2016... Cameron was quitting by summer 2018...then there would have been a leadership /prime ministerial... contest 2018.. MAY v OSBORNE v BORIS... The final two.. Boris v ???... Boris would have become PM by Oct 2018.. Boris would have won the GE may 2020 by 50..
Illogical if we are one country. THE Nation votes as a whole or it isn't a nation. I wish the English & Welsh could have a referendum to kick out Scotland, what joy that would be! We need a United Ireland too.
