This razor is made of metal and uses pre-split half-blades or you can split, snap, or cut a double edge blade in half and insert it into this razor. Thus making the razor economical and fun to shave with. You can select between the Twig (less aggressive) or the Thorn (more aggressive) shaving. The unique design allows you to spin the dial at the bottom to open and close the razor and a built in magnet that holds the blade in place while you tighten the razor. First, a walk-around the box-then a description of the razor and then lathering up and shaving with it. An Astra blade is snapped in half and installed. Lockhart’s Goon Grease (made in USA) is lathered up with the Proraso by Omega shaving brush in the Shave Nation Bumpy Indestructibowl. Finishing up with the Shave Nation Wide Stick Alum Block and Proraso aftershave balm. The result is a close, comfortable, smooth shave.

Hi Geo The Leaf Twig/Thorn are great razors - I have the Twig and love it: gives a mild yet highly efficient shave and super easy to find the correct shaving angle.

Great vod Geo. Having had a closer look at the Leaf twig, thorn and multiblade, it appears to me that they are designed to have the tab (from a split vs cut full blade) face down; though with the overhang at the back, the design might be for aesthetic reasons. They all work well and appear to be blade manufacturer insensitive. We enjoy the vids, thanks.

After using these for awhile its better to have the bent side turned downwards. Juat incase someone gets them in the same color or is confused which is which the Thorn has a small dot near the magnet on the base plate

I have all of the Leaf razors and honestly I use the Thorn the most; even opting for the thorn over the 3 blade Leaf for head shaving.

Is the thorn more aggressive than the Leaf? I want to get it but im trying out the twig first. Leaf doesn't give me a BBS shave on my head.

@@TaariqSiddik I find it more efficient than the twig, but I personally feel that it is not much more aggressive than the twig. I’m a guy who does not like a lot of blade feel. I think the thorn gives just enough to let you know that you have the right angle and the blade is cutting. That’s how I’m able to use on my head..The Leaf will of course be much less aggressive because of the pivoting head on the leaf. I feel they need to stiffen up the pivot on the Leaf just a tad. I too do not get a better shave on the back of my head with the Leaf than I do with the thorn. I’m keeping the thorn and thinking about putting the twig up for sale as I’m clearing out my shave den.

I wish I initially purchased the Leaf Thorn. I purchased the Twig as a gateway into wetshaving, it's just too mild (unless you throw a feather blade in there).

I was gifted the Thorn razor by my cousin sis and the thing I like about the razor is it will help my blades to last longer as it only requires half blade so one blade can be used for longer period

So nice when "big daddy" of YT shaving take some time for the starter razors, like Henson, Leaf, they seem to be a good transition point from cartridges but from my Henson exp. I disliked just a little bit predefined angles, almost felt like training wheels, but guess it's great for new shavers, makes everything so easy. Fig color is such a beauty 🎉

I have both the twig and thorn and like them equally. The parker solo edge is nice too, forgot if you did a review of that one geo lol. The parker blades just happen to work really good in the solo edge. I just ordered the new version with the built in magnet.

For me the head doesn’t lock down on the handle enough. On one shave I had, the head loosened as one side of the head pressed against my cheek. Cut myself pretty badly.

Geofatboy: Good Evening Sir: First, thank you for your extraordinary work in/on your videos that you put out for the wet shaving world as we know it today. I have a request for a video or two if can be realistically be done. The advice & help from you would be greatly appreciated. I primarily shave with a Merkur 23c for about the last 4 years & exclusively use Gillette Wilkinson Sword Saloon Pack Blades from India. That razor and blade combo works extremely great for my beard & face. I do have a problem with the 23 c.. a big annoying one.. About every two to two and a half years the middle screw in pin to the handle breaks off completely.. I don't abuse the razor by any means, -- clean it and dry it very thoroughly when it needs it. (every 4 days) I even use a plastic washer when I screw the handle and top back in to place each time. Have you heard of this problem with/ about the 23c happening to other wet shavers and what is your advice to solve the problem?🤔 I'm seriously considering expanding my razor collection. I'd like to stay in the reasonable price range and not break the bank by any means.. I have been doing some research lately on the Parker 78 R Razor (watched your review on it) and have heard it's a very similar shave to a Merkur 23c but at a lower cost. I'm formally requesting a comparison /shave off video be made about the Merkur 23 c vs The Parker 78 R and let us know what you think of both razors. I think a lot of people would like to know. And in the same video or another one please discuss the problem I'm specifically having with my Merkur 23c. I'm looking forward to what you have to say on the issues I brought up. For me Gotta soak the boars for like 10 mins. The proraso boar soaked for 30 seconds had to have felt like a broom. 🧹 😂. Like the color of the thorn. Nice one

The Twig is a great first razor to learn the art of safety razor shaving. Reasonably light, smooth, great for under the nose and other small or tight spaces, and very easy to use. It’s somewhat blade dependent in my experience. It works especially well for me using an Astra Superior Platinum (the one Geo used in this video), Gillette 7 o’Clock (yellow) and the Feather blades YMMV
