Leaf Shaves razors using the Twig and Thorn safety razor side-by-side comparison in this leaf razor review. Both of these safety razors are easy to load once you break a double edge razor blade in half. The twig razor is a more mild shave on your face compared to the thorn razor "medium +" which is a little more aggressive on your face with a .02 mm gap difference. Personally on my face, the twig razor does a better job over the thorn razor. I feel I get a glass like finish with only two passes on my face. The leaf thorn razor, struggles a little bit on my face and I feel I have to make more passes to a achieve the same result as the leaf twig razor. Check them out below.

FWIW, if Nacets are too aggressive for you in the Thorn, and Voskhods aren’t quite sharp enough, then Astra Superior Stainless(Not Platinum) are right in between the 2 for sharpness/aggression and they’re quite affordable.

You have one of the best detail oriented break downs of the razors u use. Lots of channels just chat about the razors and barely say much about how they shaved in detail like you do. Great review man ! Now I am going to try the voskhod in my twig. It's amazing how some blades just work perfectly with a razor. It's Nacets for my Rockwell and Astra greens or blues for my Hensons. I just love that you can tell when the blade is perfect for the razor. I love mild razors, even if they take a little more time and touchups ! Why? Because they leave your skin feeling great and smooth! Thanks again for the voskhod tip !

the Thorn is such a trip to use. it baffles me how a razor can be so mild yet so aggressive. no irritation or razor burn from my end, but i have completely sliced myself open a few times lol its smooth like butter, until its suddenly not, you really know when this razor gets ya!

The Twig is supposed to be the mild option. The Thorn was born aggressive! Use a Feather, Astra or Dorco fo degrees of mildness. And, like a plastic cartridge razor, you have to press down when using Twig or Thorn

@@OhioShaves Here's my update, I just used the Leaf Twig today... WOW!!! It's really smooth and great for people who are transitioning from cartridge shaving. I still love the Leaf Thorn, but I got a really good shave with the Leaf Twig. I used a Gillette Silver Blue blade.

Nice comparison shave. The Twig isn't my favorite but you always get good shaves from yours. I've gotten to where I like using soft soaps and creams more than the harder soaps. Mainly, because I can rub the creams on my face and do a quick face lather. If you like creams, you should try one of Geo F Trumpers. I'm a daily shaver. It's difficult to say how long a 5 oz tub would last because I have so many. Maybe 6 months. I would say a hard puck of Tabac would definitely last a year or two if that's all I used. The variety of soaps and splashes is what makes traditional wet shaving so enjoyable.

I love my Leaf and my Leaf Twig. I use them with the Leaf blades, TOBS sandalwood and TOBS preshave oil. I have a coarse beard and they leave it baby smooth. First pass Leaf, second pass across Leaf and third pass against the grain and under the nose with the Twig. Out of all my razors and shave sopa/creams-this works best for me.

well I have around 300 soaps and never checked how long does each pot stand , since I never have the time to end the pots, yes TOBS sandalwood has nice scent , now I am going to buy a leaf twig razor , since I have aprox 6500 blades and therefore I can use some of these blaces braking these in half , suposing twig is milder than thorn , greetings from mexico robert

Haha! Love the shower curtain! Also, it is interesting side-by-side shave and to see (and hear) the differences between the two razors! As for reducing neck irritation, something I discovered recently is right before shaving my neck, I wet my brush a bit and then lather back up. The little bit of water helps so the cream/soap is not so pasty and creates a smoother glide. From doing that, I went from getting a crap ton of irritation and razor burn to almost nothing. Idk if it will work or make much of a difference for you since you have thick hair on your neck and I only have peach fuzz, but it is worth a shot!

I use the Thorn for head shaving. Love it, but it has a learning curve. Keep the face of the head flat and never ever ever go slightly sideways. It also likes stiffer blades, like merkur or Personna Platinum Chrome, though the Leaf blades are surprisingly good.

I just started following last week and I really like your video style,content and manner. May I ask a question? Is it possible to have too mild of a shave? As in two passes and still a tiny bit of stubble at jawline that's not visible but able to feel it. I'm using the Hensen AL 13 mild, RK blade with 4 shaves max, preshave by Proraso, TOBS sensitive, a synthetic brush and Nivea sensitive post shave balm. Another pass and I'm certain I'd be sad. If my grandfather was still around he would set me straight! Please advise. Really enjoying your channel, content, lighting, sound, camera angles and general style! Seriously great stuff!!! I've had both..sold the Thorn...too thorny. I do get a better shave with the Twig if I completely flatten the head to my skin. I saw you angled the Thorn up a bit...might have added to the irritation.

Great comparison! Do you think with greater blade exposure of the Thorn it is causing the blade to chatter a bit across your face? My favorite razors all hold the blade very tight and close to the cutting edges like the Twig, Henson, and PAA Meta-4. I did modify my Henson a bit to reduce blade exposure.

I'm from Russia, my dad used to use Voskhod his whole life. And we would recommend you switch off from Russian Voskhod (Sunrise) to the Japanese Feather blades.

Thank you for the review. My 2 things are--with the Twig, can I get under my nose and at the corners of my mouth w/o major contortions and (2) ingrown hairs?? The only difference looking at them is the box you took it out of. If you put the same blade in both would definitely be able to tell the difference. That's crazy both in black. I hate black in a safety razor but I love it in a car finish.

It's a mystery why some companies are still trying to develop new razor designs although the best and unbeatable safety razors already exist. There's no point looking for novelty in shaving since there are classical blade safety razors such as HLS Start-2, Razorock BBS or Edwin Jagger 3ONE6.

Different marketing. Leaf is looking to people want zero waste and hit that hard. Leaf shaves nailed it with all three razors. The Twig is the best shave for a newbie wanting to get away from Gillette cartridge’s razor blades. The eco friendly market is huge. Besides all that. This razor rocks the old school safety razors

While I agree, any new innovations are not novelties. The leaf razors have pivoting heads and half blades to easily maneuver and glide according to the contour of the face and in tight spaces. I’m a long time DE safety razor user BTW.

It could. I prefer the three bladed leaf shave, razor for body shaving.

Look, I am a happily married lady. I just subscribed to your channel because I went down a rabbit hole about razors 😂. I really appreciate your thorough work and content. I just want to shave my hairy legs so that it feels nice in the sheets and for the man. Do you think this will work well for leg hair? I’m new to fancy razors but I’m sick of shelling out money on crap disposal Mens razors that I’ve used for years. Looking for that upgrade!
