Leafmon, the baby form of Wormmon (2) 

Everytime Leafmon says: "Ken please find. Please find me soon." It hits 1000 times right in the feels.

The second chance that Ken gets is by far one of the best storylines in Digimon. You're rooting for him, and you want him to overcome his terrible deeds as the Emperor. He was a fantastic character, and his theme of redemption really has been ingrained in me even after all these years.

Wormmon just casually going like "It happens." at the idea of being corrupted by darkness is probably the most real thing to ever be said in any anime ever. Sometimes shit just happens and that's how darkness gets you. Other anime do sometimes try to make the same point, but they never state it as plainly as that.

I"m glad that Digimon wasn't afraid to do all these darker and more introspective bits, even in the English dub.

This actually made me cry in a good way wish I had a friend like leafmon 😩

I feel really bad for Ken. Fighting with his brother Sam only to see him die, letting himself be corrupted by Myotismon through Oikawa, violently enslaving Digimon and repeatedly whipping Wormmon, the one Digimon who truly remembers him as a kind and gentle young boy. It took Wormmon dying to get Ken to finally see what he did wrong all his life and he truly changed for the better, fighting alongside the new kids to fight Myotismon's proxies, and Myotismon/MaloMyotismon himself, and eventually marrying Yolei.

Ken was really able to heal thanks to wormmon, reminding him that he'd kept his promise helped some of the guilt dissapate too I think. I miss digimon!

I cried when I first saw this episode as a kid. Even years later it still gets to me.

I'm still bitter that despite Ken having a crest, Wormmon never digivolved using it. Neither using the crest itself to digivolve to Ultimate nor a digimental to armor-digivolve.

I feel so bad for Ken though. I know he did bad things but it wasn't entirely his fault. The Spore getting into him is like the perfect metaphor that people sometimes don't just immediately become evil. Some people start out kind and gentle, but bad things happen and pile on until that person breaks.

Seeing this years later, this still hits me right in the feels. :')

"who are... you?" "Hi Ken." Straight in the feels.

"Being gentle is not enough. You have to be strong as well." It's too bad some sections of mainstream U.S. culture have this whole concept messed up to the point they cant' reconcile gentle with strong since it's presented in a physical rather than mental sense. Here, the issue is feeling the pain and yet still pushing forward with resolutions. Having concern for others and oneself, but not allowing oneself to wallow in pain but rather set up an action plan to relieve that pain in ways that are not destructive to yourself or anyone else. Some people when they feel pain will just lash out at everyone else around them or internalize the pain to mean they don't deserve to live and kill themselves. The third option, the more proactive way to resolve the anguish is to talk it over with non-judgmental people and perhaps write about one's feelings and then distance oneself from the incident and the emotions so as to continue on with one's life. That way the pain gradually loses its power.

That’s the beautiful thing about having a path. It’s always right there waiting for you.

This makes me cry but in a good way. I haven't seen this episode in years since I was a child. This just proves that people can really change for the better.

There is so much to learn and feel in these few minutes.

wormons speech about kens kindness and how its not enough that he needs to be strong as well or risk being overpowered by evil is so true and sad and realistic to anyone out there I love it 02 kicked ass even the epilogue

When leafmon said "Hi, Ken", I was lowkey waiting for Ken to answer "Hi, Barbie".

Real talk but Ken and Wormmon is what made season 2 for me- Ken's arc was such a rollercoaster of emotions and I think I cried at it when first watching it,, the moment where he starts feeling remorse and sees the reality of his actions kills me. I absolutely live for stories where the villain steps down and they make up for what they did as they gradually join the protagonists, even then some people (or Digimon in this case) still didn't forgive him right away. Also, unlike many voices in the dub, I love soft spoken Ken,, I don't think I cared that much about the rest of the cast when his story stood out the most.

This hits HAAAAAAARD watching it as an adult. A family loses one son, the other is implanted with a spore that makers him evil, he runs away, the parents think they've lost BOTH kids, and the only friend the kid has left straight-up dies in his arms. I know it feels like a simplistic resolution to bring Wormmon back, but at the same time, Ken working through his own issues was a long series of choices he had to make on his own. If he hadn't gone looking, he never would have found his partner again, he never would have had friends, he never would have let himself not be his brother--the perfect, missing son that Ken saw Sam as. I think the depth of Season 2 is why it was my favourite growing up, even more than the original where Tai was the leader.

I remember watching this episode, when I was little xD. It was soooooo sad that I was almost crying, ROFL. Anyway, sad episode! O-o

One of the legendary scenes that show us there's a new way to continue no matter what, and if redemption is present, it will never be late.

I cried twice during this episode. This and the episode where Wormon died are the only episodes to do that. It feels like I relate to Ken in so many ways now that I'm older.

And wormmon's digivolution ended up being one of the more effective ones in Season 2 because of how badass he was something the Digimon Emperor would have never saw.

Well I think when Sam hit Ken. It was because he was really stressed out of wanting to be perfect for his parents. Maybe like he had got a bad mark on a test, and he felt like he let their parents down, and when he saw Ken touching the digivice, he exploded and hit him, which Sam felt bad for but Ken was so mad at him for doing that, he didn't want to talk to him. So what I think is how Sam died Hemingken were arguing on the street. They were on the sidewalk and Ken ran out into the road. Sam saw a car coming. So Sam pushed Ken out of the way before it could hit him, which caused him to die instead.

For anyone wondering who the other kid with Ken was, that's Ryo from the Wonderswan games. His story runs parallel to the show.
